Interesting that Queen got rid of the birdseye on that Micarta, good heads up on that Al. I know you are big fan of it, and I do prefer it as well, but it hasn't kept me from liking some of the versions out there without it, especially the Case bone handle knives.
As for the Carl Schlieper brand, as Al pointed out, the more recent production is sloppy, very sloppy in some. The pattern is a user so I tend to give some slack in the finish department on a Soddie, but for what you have to pay to get one, you could buy a couple of Case soddies and have less problems, or spend $10 more and get near perfection with a GEC.
Yes, there is a run of bullnoses coming up soon. This run will be in 1095, they no longer use 01. I believe the orange, black linen micarta, od linen micarta and nifebrite are standard dealer run. There are few sfo handles being run too, natural canvas micarta, tortoise shell acrylic and sunbrite acrylic are all on the sfo front as well.
Don't ask me why, but of all the sodbuster's I have, I can't help but feel that my Case is the best there is, and at any price...
I have a Jr in the yellow synthetic (or is it delrin, I can't figure it out), which I really love. Its in my pocket at this very moment. I've only got one pic of it and that was in the clam shell package, which isn't that sexy. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure if I posted it in here, but might have, LOL.
Just a bit off topic here: I saw that GEC is making the Smith and Sons' Mudbuster. At least I think that's what I saw. Is that accurate?
Yes, GEC makes the Mudbuster for S&S...it's really a Bullbuster with a lockback, and the pivot is similar if not identical to the first edition Bullbuster and Bullnose. It's a bit large for my tastes, but I suppose if you have ham hocks for hands, then it's size might be for you.
Don't tell anyone, but I feel the same way!:thumb up:
I've had Case, Kissing Krane, Henkels, Eye-Brand, and one to two others. The Case was always my favorite. Not really sur ewhy, but it had a feel, something on the gut level, that just ticked for me.
