SODBUSTERS... bust 'em out, work 'em hard and show 'em off

Have to say, anybody poo-poing a Sodbuster might have to have their Traditionalist Card revoked :D

Certainly, there are plenty of patterns that I don't care for, usually based on aesthetics but the Sodbuster is an understated work-horse by definition. Simple, tough, functional and visually appealing too :thumbsup:. Interestingly enough, it's not a particularly old pattern, CASE I believe introduced it in the late 1960s based heavily on wood handled knives from Germany and Italy.

I'd really like to see GEC do another run of all steel Bull Busters but with Osage Orange wood scales that would be a nod to European origins using American skill and domestic wood, it's tough attractive material.

Another one i have, probably cannot justify another one,:rolleyes:, but that chesnut jigged bone has really got me thinking. Tossed up between that or this one, don't get me wrong this is a nice little carry and so sharp, but love that chesnut color.

Thanks for reminding me Charlie. I have one of those, and it's been a useful little blade.

Very nice :cool::thumbsup::)

CelloDan CelloDan - The first Sodbuster style knives made by GEC were commissioned by @knifeswapper Mike Latham. There were 29 made.

As you can see, they were a "Factory Test Run" made specifically for Mike. Check out the blade etch "Great Eastern Cutlery" with the squirrels on each side of the oval etch. These knives were pre-"Red Neck" and "Farm & Field".

The guy that wrote the review that you linked to at the beginning of this thread had it wrong as to the origins of the Sodbuster style knives by GEC.

Hope this has contributed to your knowledge about the GEC Bull Nose knives Dan.
:)

EDIT: I just took this picture of the tube GEC shipped these knives in.

Yes! A Bull Nose with wood covers would be outstanding! :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Red Neck!!
A short-lived Brand by GEC!! It turned out Red-Neck was already being used for cutlery by some other small cutler!!! He gave Bill permission to use it, but Bill was worried about it turning into a hassle, so he dropped the name!!!!RedNeck 1.jpg RedNeck 2.jpg RedNeck 3.jpg RedNeck 4.jpg RedNeck 5.jpg RedNeck 6.jpg
