Spark crossed a line

i'm wondering why the people attacking Spark's motives for exposing the lies aren't questioning Mr Strider's motives for spinning those lies in the first place?

It's speculation on my part:

- Aren't smart enough to understand what's being argued.

- Don't care because they are in a clik and a clik must be defended.

- To lazy to do any work or ask any questions.

- To uncomfortable with the truth.

- Afraid or too lazy to take a stand about what's right.

- Don't want their belief system to be challenged.

To those who consider the Strider issue old news, it is not old news and it is important to some of us. I have been a knife collector for many years and had never heard any of the details about Strider until recently.

I am not a vet but I hold all veterans in my highest regard, especially those who have been in combat. They sacrificed and risked more than I can even imagine. For me, it is an outrage for anyone to make false claims about their military service. It is a slap in the face to those who have actually done it and I take it personally when someone cheapens those who have fought for me.

As far as Strider knives, I don't own one and never will. That is a simple matter of honesty and integrity. Dishonest is dishonest. I do not knowingly give my money to dishonest people and especially not to those who falsly pump up their products on ficticious honor.

I thank those who "re-hashed" the issue and brought it to light for those of us who did not know.

Really a shame. The issues at hand are divisive enough -- is Mick a liar, should Spark have made a big deal about it? -- but when people who don't know each other get into personal insults from the sidelines, that's not good for the community. Whatever the forum.

I never said I was a doc. Never. I already cleared up that my nickname has a different background. I'm not even selling stuff.
Also my name is not Arnie. It's Arne. What name is on your drivers license? "Lifter"?

Actually they call me Lifter because I was I.P.A. world powerlifting champion in the 275 lb. class in 1995, as well as 9 time NJ state champion and 4 time national champion. And yes, it can be proven doc.

Spark, I dont know anything about the Somalia quote or what was told to Mick.
I do know however that there are times when prosecutors or arresting officers will say whatever they need to say to get someone to talk. I clearly remember way back around 33 years ago when I was 17 and picked up with a friend for a minor offense how we were told whatever we said was "off the record". It wasnt.

My 2 posts above were not meant to speak for Mick, they are merely my opinions.

Spark, maybe you'd like to answer the question of what happened when one of the Strider guys invited you outside to talk at that show a couple of years ago because you were talking trash? I just know you are going to say you are too mature for that, LOL.

Actually str I never questioned sparks right to post anything here. I know better than anyone that these forums are privately owned and not democracies.

No fanfare. I'm gone.

Well, that's really what my apologies to different folks were all about. I got all caught up like a damn hound going after its quarry. I started snarling and snapping at just about everyone involved. I am not participating in these kinds of threads any longer, no matter who they are about, because nothing seems to come of them except vitriol beyond the initial post and the initial defense.

This thread was a very stupid idea by the first poster. If one is going to dig up the recently buried, at least do something creative with the corpse.

That's what I'd say. When a couple of grown men invite me outside to "talk" just because someone's feelings got hurt, I'd say the exact same thing. Reminds me of Junior High. It's a typical response by those who don't have the ability to act like grown men and discuss things, usually because they know there is no argument, so they resort to "talking" outside.

Seems to be a habit. I heard DD did the same with LT.
Best way to demonstrate how clever you are.

I'll be happy to address this. Duane came up to me at SHOT show as I was walking the Law Enforcement section, 5 minutes before I had a meeting with Blackhawk. He asked if I wanted to step outside. I told him no, I was there to do business. He called me some names, I fired right back, then walked off from him. If I was going to go outside, I'd have used the tomahawk I had in the cart that I later gave to the Israeli military fella I had a meeting with (they wanted to purchase a bunch). When I fight, I don't fight fair, but violence is a last resort for me. Having some bully threaten me because he's mad about the facts of his actions doesn't exactly impress me as a feat of bravery. If someone can only win arguments through violence, and is too chicken to face prosecution for their actions, they are a bully, clear and simple. Walking away from an unnecessary fight is a wise move. Besides, if someone felt so strongly about what I said that they wanted to "step outside", they should have punched me where they found me and faced the consequences like a man.

Your talking smack about it is pretty hilarious since you weren't there. I'm glad you brought it up though, since I've been informed that you've been spreading tales about it far and wide. You might want to think about that.

EDIT: BTW, this wasn't the first time Duane threatened me, he asked if I wanted to meet somewhere with .45's after screwing around with my business. So yeah, it's a habit for him.

I love the thought that turning down the opportunity to have a fist-fight over a disagreement is considered less than manly by some.
Please. Let's not prove to the rest of the world that men who like/carry/use knives are all violence prone barbarians.

"I find the curiosity of our party is pretty well satisfied with respect to this animal."

Thanks, Boats. Some day maybe the curiosity of our party will be pretty well satisfied with respect to this controversy.

Maybe they could change the name of "BLADE 2007" to "MALL-NINJA-MANIA I". Put a squared circle right in the middle of it...Think Michael Buffer would show up?

.

That situation doesn't speak all that well of Duane as a Police Officer either. (Although I do like his knives. )

I'm just speculating too, but I suspect the new arrivals aren't idiots at all. They just don't know the issues -- haven't been told. I think that's why they keep asking the same questions that have been answered over and over -- they haven't been told things like the current episode was started by Mick on Feb. 6th, and that's why they keep asking why bring up something that was all over with years ago, and all the other questions that we keep answering over and over. They just might find out some facts, though, now they're here.

I'm going to say my piece and be an observer from that point, as I have been. I read Sparks entire thread to begin with, I did research to follow up on that, and I asked fellow forumites and friends what to do about it. I love my Country. I served 3 years for it ( I too will provide documentation if need be, I was honrably discharged for a back injury re-entry code JFM1). To hear someone defame veterans (combat or not), hurts me just as if you'd insulted my family. I got rid of my Buck/Strider knives and I'll never buy anything with the "Strider" name on it ever again. It's incomprehensible and detestable that a man would live a lie like that and continue to live it even after being called on it. It shows a lack of moral character and cowardice and I want no part of it. These things that I've said are my own feelings and it's not solely based on Sparks' expose; I can do my own research, thank you. That's the way I feel as a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and as an American. Lying about your service is the same as treason to me.

There are many reports of George Bush lying about his military service.

Many reports ... relying on forged documents to prove their case.
Not comparable to what Spark assembled as evidence.

Nevertheless, treason charges for what is arguably a character defect is a bit harsh.
