Special Buck 119 special

thanks jim , one more question - that mid handle spacer wasnt on those timeframe models was it ? i have some of the reproductions of the much older knives done for the club and they have them but they are from the much earlier buck
thanks again for the pic very nice knife and to joe and all at buck as well good work

No it wasnt Buckman,
I think that was something Joe put in there to give it a little flair! It originally was a standard 119 inverted with a phenolic handle. No mirror blade or anything. Just looked neat? Sets it apart from other "customs" maybe?
I really like it! Yes I really cant thank Joe, and Chuck, Cj,and all the employees enough!!! They do great work!!!!!!!

Is that a towel??? I'll have to look for a light color towel...

chickentrax, you're right! You will get 100 Points!! I took the towel of my little three year old doughter, it is the nearest towel I can get, when I enter the Bathroom, just five Steps away from the Computer. I also could take the black one, but that towel for my feet hangs two steps farer away and it could oxydize the Blade and etch the handle. And I don't like this. So I think, the pink one was the better choice.

:D ;) :) :) :)

I think also that you are right! ;)

I didn't have a pink towel (all dark red, blue) so I tore a neighbors towel off clothesline and used it for experiment...a long handled Buck 120...

I think the grip on the 120 (and probably 119 too) is too short...so we make it ~25mm/1 in longer... :D

I have cheap paint program; can't get colors to match (scanner bed is too short for Buck 120! :) ), so it looks funny background...but you get the idea...

And pink is nice...maybe I wait for pretty neighbor to dry off yellow towel next... :D ;)

chickentrax,

the long-handle-120 is a very good idea, but the grip wold be a bit longer, then i cold use it as a two-hand-knive for my mid-age-viking-outfit. It also looks a little bit to much unused. Oki, lets take my black towel to season the knive artificial (did I find the right words in my dictionary?).

And also my compliment to your neighbor. He has thr right colour on his drying line. Let us hope, that he has not to much woodworms in his wardrobe, that the storage of the pink clolured textile is save enough, and you are abele to lend it as often as it's necessary.

;) :D ;) :D   :) :) :) :)

...Her...It's a her... ;)

Family of 4 on one side; divorced woman + 2 kids on other side... ;)

I'm just kidding... It's my towel... :D I have no idea where it came from...I think it was red once, before I started washing everything together...no separating... :p

Funny how as soon as my ex-wife moved out, $5 bills started appearing in my washer/dryer...Must be payback for all the socks I've lost over the years...

I alway thought, a neighbour is a mean plant

Oki doki,
my compliment to your neighborlady. She has the right colour on his drying line. Let us hope, that she has not to much woodworms in her wardrobe, that the storage of the pink clolured textile is save enough, and you are able to lend it as often as it's necessary. ((does she look pretty?))

;) :)

I like kidding - it makes a grey and rainy day in the office a bit sunny.

best regards,
Herbert

Whow! :-))

Herbert

As promised here a Pic of the white-handle-124:

Herbert

I'm very sorry, but when I wanted to start the Scan, the pink towel was just in use and my Doughter didn't give it to me for the scan.
:-(

yes, Scott, you are right!

Solingen is not so far away from Berlin as the U.S.A. So I also have some Knives made in Solingen. And the knives are not bad. But Buck knives are very good knives. I like them and I collect them since about 10 jears. but I don't have a lot, only around 10 pieces. And the white 124 is the best.

Not true! You are much better in English! :)

That is true! But beauty is in the eye of the beholder! :o

Very interesting 124... :D What is the grip made of???

chickentrax,

I don't know what kind of material Buck used for this knife. I think it is Micarta, but I'm not shure. I think, that there are a lot of members in this forum who knows it better.

no problem haebbie
but since you didnt know what it was i think you should send it to me were it will be properly appreciated , i even saved a spot :D :p :D

buckman#10,
That red micarta just doesn't look proper in your display, I've got a black micarata that will gladly take its place;)

good try scott but that is my favourite , unitl i get the black with the serrations
a question did the original nemo have the serrations ?

I have seen a Nemo, with hole in pommel and phenolic handle and a serrated blade. They are rare as...a red micarta 124.
