Splitback Whittlers at their Best!

I wonder why the double layered brass liners... certainly ends up a thick little knife at the tail end. Interesting!
The inner set are spacers.

The first GEC I ever bought was an 89 whittler. It wasn't THIS 89 whittler, mind you. It was a yellow jigged Northfield. I sold it. :(

I regret letting it go, as it was the knife that started me down this path. I picked up this acrylic version to try and satiate my thirst (and regret) for an 89 splitback. And while I love it, I really wish I could get that yellow jigged bone back.

At any rate, these 89s are cool examples of splitback whittlers.

It appears that my inbound 38 will be delayed until at least Monday regardless of what the USPS app says. Therefore, I will carry this beast instead.;)
A Schatt and Morgan 43½ carpenter's whittler. It has a few flaws in the f&f department but is spot on everywhere it truly counts.:D

OKCA had so much interest in the knife this year that they cancelled orders and memberships of new people and offered an extended time frame to older members to buy, and I guess they sold out.

A little strange since I sent in membership dues and knife money quite some time ago, but they can do whatever they want since it’s a private club. Not sure I would join OKCA in the future given the peculiar circumstances of the refund.

Bummer! I had heard there was increased interest in this year's club knife. But that's just bad luck.

Same thing happened to me, sent in a while back, OKCA cashed my check and has been sending me newsletters. So was a bit surprised to receive a full refund for the membership and knife. Wish they would have contacted me, I would have told them to keep the membership fee, sorta seems they really don’t want new members.

I couldn’t find a GEC 38 English thread, so here is my new one.

Pulls are perfect, knife is beautiful, very well made.

I am sad I got bumped from the Oregon 2021 Knife Collector Assoc knife.

I really like the long dark streaks in the covers on your knife.

... Usually someone starts a thread for the year and the release. I'll nominate you, but if you don't wanna do it I'll take the runner up nomination ;)

I'm sure OKCA saw a big increase in membership this year because of people just trying to get in on another GEC knife. Maybe their numbers increased to where they couldn't fill all the orders. I can see them wanting to give established members priority over the knife hunters. Good for them.

It was a tough decision!! Okca was flooded with new applicants, obviously trying to get a club knife!!!
They didn't want to be seen as profiting from this, and their (our) finances are fine because of excellent management!! I am sure they will accept membership, without a knife request!! A long-term member like me (25+ years) got his club knife because they halted the lolly-scramble!! I don't blame people for trying, but I'm ever grateful. The knives would have been gone, if not for that move!
Hooray, I say!!!
