Splitback Whittlers at their Best!

I'm not sure how legit this one is, but it was sold to me as a factory sample with sambar stag covers and 24 karat gold filled etch. Fit and function are as they should be, except the blades are completely unsharpened. The stag is nicely matched and beautiful. Even if not as represented (who knows for sure??), it's a very nice knife that I did not overpay for. 3.84" closed.

Here's an inexpensive one I picked up on the big auction site a couple years ago. I have no idea of when this was made but what I could find suggest that it may date to 1936-41? I could be way off so any info anyone may have would be welcomed. It looks unused to my eyes and is very tight and snappy.
Also, to be quite honest I'm not even sure if the scales are bone or some composite? The jigging is not particularly attractive and when I got it scales were an ugly, lighter brown/yellowish color. I dyed them with dark brown and may dye again with black. With this jigging though they may come out looking like gumfuddy.

I like the dark brown dye job you did. I've had difficulty with black dye jobs on bone, but Fiebing's leather dye worked well enough for the knife to appear black.

Thanks, T. I tried the Fiebings black over the bone but couldn't get it to take hold. May try a black Rit dye simmer next.

Here is a Schrade Walden whittler. A few interesting features on these: sabre grind on the main blade, a notch is cut out of the wedge piece to allow the main blade to be quite long for the handle size, some fancy coining for lack of a better term along the back of the knife. All blades are pretty well sunk into the handle when closed.

Great Knife, p&g!!:cool: One of Schrade's works of art!!:D

All this talk of the BF 2021 forum knife got me side tracked from our important work here in the splitback thread! Since Northfield English Whittlers are probably hitting people's mailboxes tomorrow or the next day, here's another great Northfield (by GEC) from several years back in celebratory anticipation!
