Splitback Whittlers at their Best!

That's a Terrific Trio of gorgeous knives.:thumbsup:

While patiently waiting for the 38 English Whittlers from GEC I found this Queen 48 at a dealers site. It is a wonderful little knife a 5 pull and snappy. The D2 steel is sharp, we will have to see if it needs touched up for actual whittling but no rush. The spots on the blade are from a little rain sprinkle here. F&F seem to be in order, I think it will be a winner.

Case "Seahorse" whittlers are pretty true to the Wharncliffe pattern.
Many scoff at them, because of the ubiquitous steel in the blades!
But the pattern/shape is quite useful - nice long grippable handle, and useful blade shapes both Primary and Secondaries!
I'm no pro whittler, but I used one for for a year and found it quite useful and sharpen-able!!Seahorses 5.jpg Seahorses to sell 1.jpg Seahorses3.jpg
The second one down in this picture is a "Seahorse". As you can see, they have no wedge, but they do have a "split", or paired, spring.Seahorse Comp grp 2.jpg

I bought this case whittler of the big auction site. It was basically mint. I was so excited that I opened it walking back from the mailbox to my house and.....DROPPED it on the sidewalk, knicking the bolster!!!
