Spring 2016 Becker East Gathering - sign-up closed

All of those would be good, as a first time attendee its pretty much your responsibility to feed and drink everyone, as well as wait on us hand and foot. So, much, beer, much food, ammo, whiskey, gas money home for everybody and dont forget to get there a little early to set up all of our camps! But don't wear yourself out because you will have to break them all down on Sunday!

I've made a huge mistake! lol

Seriously though, I've been to this gathering more times than I can count. My best advice to you is bring what you want. You will walk into this place seeing strangers and leave with brothers. So, the best thing I can say is bring stuff you want to share. Things you like, as far as food, beer, spirits, it seems the more obscure the better, everyone likes something new. But also remember everyone thats coming, especially the ones that have been there have this same mentality. I gave up on bringing food years ago because there will be so many people there willing to fill your gullet with delectable treats all weekend. I try to contribute by helping people with there projects in Ethans shop, I plan on bringing belts and materials for that. Everyone has something that can contribute. But its a no stress place, just bring something that you think like-minded people will enjoy, and that is more than good enough, seriously! ;-)

Good deal sir. Looking forward to meeting you! I'll have one of my own knife prototype's that I am eager to pass around (with Ethan's blessing), and I'll be sure to bring some libations and comestibles for the greater good

As a first time gathering attendee... what should I be expecting re: food preparations?

One has seen the words tortillas, cheese, bacon, and beer bandied about. What should one bring for the community food pile, and what meals should one expect to be responsible for oneself?

depends on when you are planning to arrive -- bringing lunch-type stuff may be best, although some form of locally sourced breakfast meat, and/or frozen diced or shredded potatoes, is rarely a bad thing. another good thing to bring is dessert - type options, especially if you are a guru of the dutch oven -- or veggies suitable for wrapping in foil packets and roasting over a fire.

Yea my son and I are first time attendees as well. I spent some time this afternoon getting some ideas on that to bring and what I can contribute. What I came up with is this..First time attendee don't know but a couple of people = Bring Bacon and BEER...Correct me if i'm going off in the wrong direction here. LOL.. Seriously. I am looking forward to being there and getting to know the group. Hope I can find something to bring to the table.

there's also a pistol range, so Bullets and Blades aren't out of the question, either.

it may be chilly, so Blankets might come in handy - unless you plan on snuggling in between James and the fire.

....Blankets are a must..No snuggling..LOL. Yea my son is in the scouts so we do camp a lot so we are looking forward to this outing..

I will miss you guys! Someone needs to represent the "No Pants" minority!!!!

Ok so News so Great

Circumstances prevent me from attending, Hope you all like the Package
Leave it to Ethan to choose first Beckerhead to Take home
The Rest of you Beckerheads get in line

So, I'm going to have to back out. Turns out I've had pneumonia for the last 2 weeks that has also managed to screw up my heart. Been in the hospital for the last week or so and my doctor is not thinking it's a good idea for me to be in another state in case "something" happens. Although he hasn't specified what "something" could be.

probably a good call -- although, I can vouch that Blount memorial in Knoxville has a pretty good ER staff. :D

Boy I remember that night. Must remember to call wife before going. Don't want another wife freaked out call asking me what I cut off. Seems a friend of hers saw us in the waiting room and called her thinking she was in ER..... Hope the hand is well!

heh.
I still think it's amusing that SWMBO cut her right hand in almost the same place earlier that afternoon, while at home, washing dishes.
