Spyderco 2020 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

I think Spyderco is a company that’s very into lean manufacturing. One of the primary objectives of lean manufacturing is to not keep extra stock laying around. So that may be one reason.

Another is that they do cqi’s and would have to keep all of the blades for all previous models throughout the design history. Wouldn’t be worthwhile for them in my opinion. I doubt they would keep the work holding for old designs in the shop either, so I don’t think they could easily make more.

Finally, they make knives in several different locations, so keeping stocks of all of them would be more difficult.

Benchmade, ZT and Kershaw don't keep much parts for their discontinued knives.

For this thread, there's a lot of people glued to their notifications for news about new releases and availability. Some of them dont appreciate the off topic conversations on this thread and the notifications on their phone as a result of each post. I'm guilty of doing it myself.

Off topic can be subjective but I agree with you specially when it continues for more than a couple of posts. We're all a little guilty! Makes it difficult to wade through the thread.

Has anyone heard any news or updates on when the Para 3 Diamond Arc Forest Green G10 S45N will be released?

It could be any day now as it's kind of past due! ;)

These are still due from the 2020 Spyderco Reveal Volume 4 (January 15, 2020) and it’s now 160 days since that announcement:

  2. Manix2 Lightweight CPM-REX45 Burnt Orange FRCP C101PBORE2 Sprint Run (USA)
  3. Native Chief CPM-REX45 Burnt Orange G-10 C244GPBORE Sprint Run (USA)
  4. Para3 CPM-S45VN Forest Green G-10 (Diamond Arc Pattern) C223GPFGR Sprint Run (USA)

  6. Nightstick CPM-S30V Black G-10 Boltaron Sheath FB47GP (Taiwan)
  7. Astute 8Cr13MoV Black G-10 C252GP (China)

It's best to announce a new product or the product going to dealers when you have some certainty about it from reliable sources. Best to be the an accurate source not necessarily first.

Absolutely agree. I have never discussed anything that did not materialize 100%.

Benchmade, ZT and Kershaw don't keep much parts for their discontinued knives.

I can't speak for Kershaw or ZT, but Benchmade has done very well with regard to blades for old models, from what I understand.

Once the replacement blades of a discontinued knife are used up I doubt if they would start manufaturing more blades of a discontinued model.

Then, by all means, do share.

I'll need to look back at my previous posts but, as I don't have nearly your number of posts and time on the forum, a number of people seemed to think that I was speculating. I think that it was in reference with the K390 Bento knives and some of the DLT releases. In any case, I'm not seeking to take your job as the product announcer but, rather, just wondered what was okay and what wasn't after seeing you post so many releases.

When I post the announcement for a new Spyderco knife or that the knife is on its way to dealers it's easily verifiable.

It's a hobby for me not a job.

Ok. Not a good use of my time. Was just curious and appreciate your efforts.

Ramzar I appreciate you keeping us informed. I'm looking out for that Rex45 Native Chief!

On another note - does anyone have a K390 Endura in hand yet? I want to say I preordered first week of May and no idea where they are at in fulfilling or even production. I wrote my preorder dealer and they replied thusly:

" Thank you for reaching out to us. For now, pre-orders are fulfilled in the order that we received the pre-orders. As a result, we don't have an estimated time that each order will ship out. Once we receive a shipment, we'll send them out starting with those who have been waiting for the longest. That being said, we don't have a time table on when yours will ship out.
Thank you for your patience so far. Please let us know if you have other questions or concerns.

Kind regards, "

My unanswered reply:

" Appreciate your reply. I’m inferring that you all have been getting some and have sent some out by your phrasing.

I can wait but my buddy is hounding me - this will be his first knife at my suggestion.

Many thanks and aloha, "

The Endura K390 Blue FRN is a regular production model just like the other Japanese-made K390 Blue FRN models. As such, you’ll definitely get one. Only the LadyBug3 has been released. The remainder were announced on May 5th and are due sometime in mid-2020 per Spyderco:
  1. Delica4 Lightweight K390 Blue FRN C11FPK390 (Japan)
  2. Dragonfly2 Lightweight K390 Blue FRN C28FP2K390 (Japan)
  3. Endura4 Lightweight K390 Blue FRN C10FPK390 (Japan)
  4. Manbug Lightweight K390 Blue FRN MFPK390 (Japan)

Sorry to hijack this thread. Bought the last Fradon Lock Delica. It’s a cool knife but, but I will stick with Taichung or Golden spydies from now on. The Seki City knives haven’t been impressive lately.

Look at the spine of the Seki City compared to Golden. Don’t even get me started on the scale finishing on the Delica.
