Spyderco Fakes & Knock Offs Info

If that has green G10 and a black blade it's fake

Need some assistance please.

After having not one but 2 Spydercos 'walk off' a number of years back, I grow tired of carrying cheapies. That said, it seems as if there are more fake Para Military 2's running around versus the real ones. Please try and help a fellow Spyderco lover keep from getting ripped

This box looks funny to me. Any comments would be appreciated.

Well, your link is not working and you really can't go by the box. I have a Para 2 comparison video that describes some boxes. The real and fake boxes are both printed in China.

Think I got a fake spyderco, too....how do I post pics?

You'l need to host them somewhere first like photobucket. Then you can post the links here.

Do a google search for photo hosting. What phone do you use? A lot of them have free hosting services.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Good choice had 'em since version one.

Ok, so I just did this to see how to do it just for you!

Go to Play >> Install Google Photos

it should sync right away if you are on wifi, if not, you'll have to go into the setup to set it up to use data network.

Then go to photos.google.com and it should just go to your account and view the pic and post the link here:

For some reason they are not posting "inline" for me here so I did the link by just pasting the URL, they want you to use their website for viewing.

Photobucket would be another site to try.

les_garten,

Thanks for the help. For some reason the Google thing doesn't want to work when I go to that link. No idea why other than it says "404 error" and that URL doesn't work and IT doesn't know why. Aggravating.

Ok, I think maybe I might have it halfway figured out, lol. Trying to post pics of this Spyderco knife now...

Ok, photos posted. Nevermind the crappy jimping on the blade, that was put there by the guy I bought this knife from (personal transaction). However, I am unable to identify this model of Spyderco. What made me think it might be fake is that while it has VG-10 printed on one side, on the other side "China" is printed. I realize it's probably an older Spydie, but since when was VG-10 produced in China? I was sure it was a Japanese steel and that the knives were either made in Japan or perhaps Taiwan. I really don't know, and the blade took/takes a nice edge...but I'd still rather know if it's a fake or not.

I appreciate any help/advice I can get. Spyderco is a new-ish area for me, I am only just now dabbling in their knives.

That's a Chinese clone. Show a shot showing the thickness. I'll bet it is a thick knife. They just came out with those in the land of Egg Roll.

Hope ya didn't pay much for that. It cost around $15 in China, that's a delivered price...

It's a confabulation of Para2 and military steeped in Soy Sauce

Figures. I paid $30 for it from a guy, in person. Clearly he did not know it was a fake (or maybe he did, but either way he's going to be a bit nervous when I tell him - I was in uniform when I met up with him).

Thanks for the info, I really do appreciate it.

You're welcome.

If I was going to end up with a clone, I would spring for the $25-30 Military or Para2 clones. They are pretty nice knives at twice the price.
