Thoughts on this one?

Haven't received it yet. Those were the pics in the FS post, purchased from the Knife buy / sell / trade FB group. As many folks are in there, I kinda figured it'd get called out as BS if it was a fake, so I wasn't too worried. However, I figured I might as well double check.

First spyderco. Been a Benchmade fan for a long time (I've EDC'd an Osborne 940 for years that's beat to hell but just keeps on going), but looking at the Spyderco's in the local shop I always felt like the thumb hole would take some getting used to. Figured I'd pick up a used one and see what all the fuss is about. If it ends up that I can't quite get used to it, not really any risk of losing any money. Or it gets stuffed in my camping pack and rides there so that I don't ever forget a knife while camping :).

Easiest way to tell other than eyeballing the knife, is to see how they tap the screws? Metric or Inch...

I haven't read every page yet, just found this earlier.....But I picked this up from a guy and now I can't find his info.
So I am wondering if this may be fake?...I am almost certain it's the real deal, but I am possibly gonna trade it for something
I want so I wanna make sure it's real before I pass it on to someone else.
I took a few pics earlier, will post a couple....If there are certain ones I can take to show whether it is real,or not....Let me know?
I'll take more If I don't have....One thing really impresses me is the steel....It looks like steel ive seen on something before....
I think it's similar to BM steel as to the grainy look......I've seen this look on something that was good quality I know.....
I was told the scales were aftermarket, but can't find the sellers info to ask who he got them from?
Thanks for any input.....JD

That's fake bud...pocket clip on the genuine land on the titanium frame. Fake clip land on both the frame and lock...also, the screws on the pocket clip is smaller M2...real ones have all the screws including the stand off same size M2.5

Where did you get this info at?

I'm blade4sell of eBay and I sell over 200+ Spyderco PM2 clips per month. This is not advertising BTW...just from experience. I've always include 2 screws (2-56) for my clips. It so happen very often that customer come back stating my clip don't fit. The story always goes, my 2-56 screws are too thin. I'll say it happen at the least twice a month. Then when I advise my customers regarding the possibility that their knives are fakes, all of them recheck, and confirm theirs are fake.

I guess if we all really want to be sure, gotta dis-assemble the knife, top is genuine, bottom is fake. Before I've always thought the sure way is the gimping on top thumb hole choil. While the genuine gimping angles back like 45 degree, and the fake ones just pointy. Just last week I purchase a recent PM2, looks like that's not the case anymore.

I don't know whether it's been posted but there are cloned Rubicons out there, very obvious on the one that I have handled.
Pivot screws raised in the centre, stainless steel liners and pocket clip, highly polished.
Liners not skeletonized so quite heavy.
No gimping on the flipper.
G10 scales not carbon fibre.

A very well built knife, ball bearing pivot and it flips open easily. Solid lock-up with a very satisfying clunk.
Blade polished on flats, sweges and grinds.

So easy to tell the difference on this $20 one but damn they are getting good.
Before long the titanium versions will arrive with a higher price and a lot more difficult to spot.

I did a Video comparison and Break down of the Rubicon on my Youtube channel

I'll be doing the Ti Millie next month when it arrives.

Hi there.
Great channel, now subscribed.
I had no idea about the size issue with the Rubicon. When I mentioned the titanium versions coming I meant the Rubicon would probably have more versions, maybe with titanium liners and clip like the real thing. :)
If they included a cheap carbon fibre then it would still come in at around $50 to $60.
This one is more a Rubicon shaped object than a clone, pity they had to rip off the Spyderco name and design.

Yeah it's strange they didn't do as good a copy like the Southard they copied. I expect the Ti Millie to be a pretty good copy.
