The first one is a Mili knockoff although it might be real with a modded scale, hard to tell. The second one is a Para knock-off first I have seen with the Compression Lock, it is fake for sure. The clip is in the wrong place and does not appear to have the spyder logo, and the lanyard tube is too small. The Dragonfly is wrong too, it almost looks real with a modded scale, but it is missing the beveled spine and lanyard tube. Getting harder to tell apart.

That ZT is def. fake. It has no damascus.

Good eyes sir.
And the first one is a fake for sure. 1st off the blade doesn't have logo, etc... 2nd thing the screws on the handles are not flat/flushed w the scales, they have rounded top. 3rd thing the lock bar is somewhat polished/stonewashed instead of being beadblasted (see how the light reflexed). 4th thing is that the G10 scales are too rough, mine's got smoother texture. Finally, those pictures, I pulled them off on a Chinese website, so...

Oh and the pivot screw on the Para is a lil too small too right?

If not for the G10 handle not being Carbon fiber and the blade not being Damascus, don't see how can I tell the different btween the fake and the real 0777 :)

The best way to put a dent in all these trademark/patent infringement/ knockoff manufacturing is to stop doing business with those countries that are notorious for skirting te laws and marketing fakes. China, Taiwan are two of the worst when it comes to abusing the privilege of manufacturing for a well know brand of US goods, and burning the midnight oil making a few thousand extras on the side. There is no way we can stop it unless we install American security at each plant we have commissioned to prevent such ripoffs...and that's never going to happen. If Spyderco truly wants to fix this issue, then I say end all outsourcing to those countries that are known for this fraudulent activity. If the bottom line is the deciding factor when it comes to outsourcing, then that's just too bad if fakes are sold worldwide. Besides, we need the jobs here, not to be outsourced there.

The three Spyderco fakes pictured in the original post are copies of two Golden products and one Seki City product. I seriously doubt that the factories that produced these fakes are located in Golden or Seki. So how would ceasing production of the Chinese Spydercos affect these particular counterfeits??

It is instructive that there don't seem to be many (any?) counterfeits of the Byrds or Tenacious family of Spydercos. Since these knives are already value priced, there is not a lot of incentive to make much cheaper copies. There isn't enough profit there to tempt the pirates. If I am wrong about the first sentence, somebody please illuminate me.

None to my knowledge. PM, Military, Dragonfly, Poliwog, Native, Warrior, Spin, Gunting, Fox, G10 UKPK, are the ones I have seen.

Just so I can educate myself a bit, can you tell me how you were able to tell this is a fake? Do you own an actual one of these, or were you just looking for fakes?

I'm not looking for fakes, nor do I want to buy any of these. they just bump into me when I'm walking on the street called "the internet"

I ordered one of those UKPKs off the bay earlier today, and very quickly realized I had made a huge mistake. I sent the seller a link to this thread and he quickly refunded me though.

Besides the chineese writing in that picture, it looks pretty real to me. Got a little scared my para2 might be fake after watching xiuxiu1313's fake military video on youtube. So I checked my edge-u-cation paper from the para2 box and the paper ends like this:

"Made in Golden, Colorado U.S.A.

Thanx Much,

The Spyderco Crew"

Does spyderco actually write Thanx Much on anything? It seems strange to me.
