Spyderco HAP40 Thread

Just ordered one from National Knives, who, after my order, appear to have 21 left in stock.

Anxious to compare this to my SuperBlue Endura...

Let's get the thread back to HAP40 discussion and photos.
No more whining about downgrading retailers review stars via blogging. Please keep your impatience to yourself. This is a Sprint run Delica. It happens.

On my second touch up with the Delica. Been neglecting my Super Blue recently. Just realized I can see more of the sandwich separation becoming visible on the spine...

It's almost impossible to see on mine. I just have few very faint spots of patina along it that I almost need a magnifying glass for.

Been using the Hap40 Endura for about 3 weeks now daily. Most of its use has come from plastic bags and tape cutting (I work in a restaurant so its bags of produce, packages ect). After closely looking today, there appears to be a couple micro chips (maybe its called something else? Im new to this), but im curious how I should touch it up with my Sharpmaker. It still cuts through paper nicely so it is indeed still quite sharp.

Interesting, this is the first report I've read about any chipping. If the chips are small then you can just sharpen on the medium rods at 40 degrees and they should sharpen out in short order.

Thanks, theyre out now. Im very careful with my blades so yes it is interesting, I couldnt imagine they came from plastic.

I've heard that the factory edge can be a bit less stable because of the power sharpening (and possibly a lower then optimal edge angle?). Anyway, keep us posted if it shows any further chipping. Now that you have started a microbevel I'd bet you don't have any more issues.

Yeah, this seems to be the case for many steels.

HAP40 can chip but so far I've only seen it happen at very high hardness 64+. This is after contact wth bone,
