The Atlantic Salt? Yeah, its cool in the way that kindergarten scissors are cool.:D Seriously though, I really like the handle on the Atlantic but I just can't abide that sheepsfoot for any of the work I do. Even after wharnifying mine I find it less useful than a more traditional blade shape like the Pacific Salt. I reckon it all depends on your uses but not having the ability to use the belly against a flat surface is a big negative for me.

This is one of the best threads to date!! Just awesome photos!!! I don't live by the ocean so I can live through your guys pics :) and I can't think of a better ocean fishing or just ocean living knife than a H1 spyderco in any configuration

The Atlantic Salt is an excellent knife for sailing and for white water rafting. I carried one in my life vest while sailing. It's also fine for on land but I can see the merits of the Pacific Salt especially for fishing.

Hey guys, my wife and baby are going to Tahiti for three months. The environment is screaming for me to bring down a few salt series knives. My wife is a strict vegetarian and with all the fruits on the island, I will also be using these for food prep. Can I get some advise on which versions are the most versatile? What would you guys recommend?

Plain edge Pacific Salt.

I was thinking of a serrated one as well. Are the serrations that useful?

They are. That said, I would probably prefer the pe version for slicing food and fruit everyday. I think the Pacific Salt is definitely the most useful design in the Salt series so if I were you I'd probably get one of each. (Meaning a Pacific Salt in both se and pe)
