SPYDERCO SALT THREAD...fishing, ocean, stories, pics and all things "salt"

I have a Dragonfly Salt that needs a custom paint job. Is there any certain kind of paint that works best?

I used orange rit dye on the Tasman. I would worry about paint chipping or rubbing off, but I have seen some painted frn scales that looked good and some that looked like dookie. I can't give you any advice about what kind of paint because I don't have any experience with it. :)

Thanks remnar and Surfingringo. I'll give the rit dye a try and put some pics up in a day or two if it works out.

Had a half hour to kill tonight so picked up a couple of snook from shore under the bridge lights. They love Rapala swimmers bounced off the bottom in the shallows.

So I finally took the plunge and got married this past weekend. Traditional type wedding nothing fancy since it was what we both wanted. However, when it was time to remove the garter it just hit me spur of the moment how it must be done. Out of my pocket quick as a flash came trusty ol Pacific Salt SE! Poor garter never stood a chance.

Not a "Salt" knife, but maybe one day... :)

Hey Lance, awesome fish! You're an inspiration! School has been keeping me from fishing, but whenever I visit this thread I feel a little better. I've saved up for a Salt, all I gotta do is pcik the model. But I'm nowhere near replacing my Old Town Angler for a Hobie. :grumpy: :D

Right on backwater-otter! Pay attention to that school stuff, keep saving that money and don't get lost in the grind and you'll get to fish all you want!

Here's a little more "inspiration" from today. ;)

Pac Salt works really well for removing the tip of your thumb. Discovered that while cutting vegetables in the kitchen last night.

Not the tip, and not the thumb, but I get what you say

lovely thing we discover with these Salts every day!

Nice fish Lance, appreciate the pics. Bottom fish are biting in the Keys, when the wind isn't blowing. Mutton and yellowtail snapper in the chum lines. Keys used to be like Costa Rica, but the pressure has taken it's toll. Catch nice snaps like that offshore of Daytona and St. Augustine area. Folks go easy on the hands ;)

Yes sir! Definitely some more inspiration. I'm just a wee bit jealous. :D My Fin-Nor is begging to get taken out. Maybe I'll hit the intercoastal later.

Ok guys,

I got the Salt in and while the overall quality was great I wasn't sure if it were gonna be a keeper. I got it for a vacation/gym knife but I decided to use it all day today. Used it to prep for chili, cut up some cardboard, as well as prepare this fire and make smores.

I think me and the Salt are gonna get along just fine.
