Biahop,

I just got Resilience recently, and saw that Spyderco influence to theae companies resulting in better built. In a subtle way.

The closest to compare with is EL01, both liner lock. The Resilience is smoother and better built in many small detail. Strength & lockup are on par, yes. However in the minutrs detail on how the lock mating the tang, how the G10 is slightly bigger than liner, how the ball detent works in and leaves the bar not flush with blade preventing moisture trapped, are better in Resilience. I have both.

Is EL01 great? Yes. Does Resilience give a better feeling overall? Yes. Each has it's own place.

All understood.
My point is simply for the price point, you can't beat it.
I've killed dozens of knives over the years, reground broken blades ... after a while, you realize you don't break blades opening boxes.

For collection, go with what you love.
For use, this is a real practical alternative.

Like kitchen knives. You can spend $300 on 1.
In the business, and I have been a lifelong member, you use a $10 beater plastic handle.

Your $300 stays in the pouch mostly.

That is the point.

For $20 ... buy it.

Another question if you'll have it. Is there a difference between the BEE El01 and the ENLAN el01? does one have skeletonized liners? is one a higher quality with bronze washers? any little differences?

I only have 1 BEE, it may be an l05.
I don't think there is an el series in bee.
From the one I have and Enlans EL series, though same price, we are talking I think 2/3rds the size, like I said, more EDC for most folks.
Nice knives, a step down in size and weight.

Bees and Elans may be the same company, they say labels may change when you order.

My M series Elan is very similar to my BEE, I would not be surprised.

When you get it, let us know if you think you got your $s worth or more!

Will do, it only costs me 13 dollars shipped to my house O.O. I really hope it lives up to this topic, but if not I won't sweat it.

I pay on average $10 shipping from exduct for around 6 knives. They weight them and I have been ordering he heavier knives. China Freight? is back for US.
So far, reliable, say average $2 per.

$13 is crazy. Ebay?

So I just got a 723 carbon fiber looking knife in the mail. The weird thing is I did not order it, and it was sent to my old address. It came from some website I have never heard of either. Seems to be normal Sanrenmu quality, shaving sharp, good clip although the blade is not centered. Like other Sanrenmu's, it is a bit small, but I kind of like it, may keep it, may gift it just wanted to share my little surprise. Maybe I am part of a Chinese knife a week for free club now, we will see.

Not trying to be rude in any way, just making a point.
Is it 4.5x the price better IYHO.

Would you rather pass on 4 and a half EL-01s for the subtle edge the Resilience gives you?
What if you were on a budget?

What if you were gonna beat it?
Are you gonna use it or admire it?

If your gonna use it and beat it, do those subtle difference justify to the price difference for your pocket in today's economy??

It's all relative.

I deal with guys that use and beat their knives for real, in real life.
They got their mitts on the EL-01 and said where do I get this?

Collecting and using are 2 different worlds.

Bishop,

Totally agree. For enjoyment (what you love) iI'd say worth 4.5x the price.

To beat, nothing wrong with EL01. This is the point you try to emphasis. No disagreement here.

Gkeenang,
There are some EL01 marked as Bee instead of Enlan, and from various reviews, they are practically the same, except for the logo.

That's the point IMHO. The knives are solid, and if I loose or wreck it, no sweat.
I got my sweethearts with the big name brands over the years, and I like all of them. But I'm not gonna take them into the ocean ..... these will do the job and I'm not gonna cry if I get it wet, filled with sand and got to rinse it.
Plus, its not a piece of junk, you can feel it in your hand, see it with your own eyes.
Not like the old days where $10 gave you nothing.

Am yet to have a chance to take them apart, those 2 tools should be in any day.
I can see there is debris in there on some.

I may even put a few aside in the case :)

BTW, on the BEEs, is it just me or would they somehow seem better if they did away with that weird disco logo?

My 2 cents ... get it!
It is heavy, solid in every way, and the steel takes and keeps a scary hair popping edge.
Hands down a winner even at $20. I kid you not, this piece of metal has $150 written all over it.
I even ordered a second, as well as a 2nd EL-01, both really stood out.

Thanks Bishop for your feedback! The EL08 will be my next purchase. :)

As Chris said. They are the same (I have both of them.)

vortex,
Let us know what you think.

Look at the tool for it.
If from Exduct, it's 10 with the knife, 15 without.
The price for the tool is a ripoff, I'm waiting on mine, but it is what it is.

If you plan on opening it, might be worth looking at.

Ok. I'll let you know. :)

I have one of those triangle tools. I had to buy it for my EL01Ds.

I have not had the time to read the entire thread so if this has already been said please forgive my repetitiveness. Out of curiosity I got a few of the Elan04 with the contoured G10, mainly because I like the scales. I found the "axis" lock to be very stiff and hard to manipulate. Tore one down and polished up all of the contact areas. Still very stiff. Then I removed one of the "omega?" springs and it works great with just one spring. The blade holds an edge much better than expected. I hate to admit it, and I am ashamed :o, but it is a good knife for the price. Yes it is a blatent design ripoff in many ways. Fortunately I am willing and able to buy the American made real deal and will continue to do so for reasons other than just curiosity ie: gifts, new knives and replacement knives.

nice blade..similar to the srm 710 but a nicer handle.

I got he same knife, compared with the SRM 710, the Enlan version is not as smooth and has a stiffer operation. Also, I have noticed across multiple blades, the srm is not sharpened as well as the enlan, the enlan comes with a very even grind while the SRM seems to have been ground by passing the blade straight over a sanding wheel/drum without lifting the heel and such.

Buy American or European instead of these Chinese copies;they are much better and keep people on their job!
Watchkiller.

I paid $16 delivered for the Inron 803. A stinking great price.

Unfortunately, not a great folder. I was taken in by the organge version, which looked great -- but only in the photo.

This is not a terrible folder by any means. But the workmanship and f&f simply don't live up to the best of my SRMs and Enlans.

I violated my own rule and didn't order two of these to see if one turned out to be ok.

Speaking of the best models -- I just received the Enlan Bee EM01. It's a very nice EDC-size folder, with an under 3-inch blade. I'd rank it with the 710, 763, L02 and M25.

Bottom line: I'm still batting about 50 percent on these imports.
