Haven't carried the EL08 much, but I like the weight. It might be because of getting used to also handle Cold Steel XL Voyager :p

The tip is ground so thick compared to even the Voyager Tanto ... On the other hand, the Navy tip is very sharp, not so obtuse. Good for a light duty gentleman knife.

The triage has skeletonized liners and weighs 5 oz.
The Enlan weighs 6.8!

After carrying full day, can't say I notice the differences. It took over Resilience pocket space & usually I carry several anyway.

That might explain :)

The edge is quite sharp but too obtuse. Also haven't figure out how to wave it without changing the look too badly.

Today's EDC:
Retiring SRM763, now Navy k611, and testing carriability of Enlan EL08. Both still have factory edge with some stropping, so EL02 with my edge is needed.

Chris: What do you think of the K611? IMO it has the best F&F of the Navys I own.

Yes, it's the best F & F of all Navy's I've come across which are/were k631 (3 of them) and k611.

However, as gentleman as it is, single hand opening it is not and handle blade ratio is not optimum, so I'd carry & use it in office but will not get a back up.

Off topic: just saw an Icel Farmer Knife 5.5" blade with two hand opener, at the cost of 611, thinking of getting one ;) anyone has experience?

I got 2 Chinese knives today, BEE 04mct and Enlan EM01. Grabbed the 04 first, fit and finish look good, but the axis lock was terrible.

Button ends were not sharp, but let's say "abrupt". Uncomfortable, and the "pull" of the axis lock was way too hard. Also rough, and sticky. Not good.

So, I gathered my tools and did a full disassemble. The dreaded "tri-nut" gave me ZERO problems, just used a small pair of needle nose.

The buttons on the axis lock bar were the hardest, had to use pliers to hold one, while I unscrewed the other.

Once it was all apart I used a dremel to smooth the slots in the liners where the axis bar slides. I also bent the omega springs to make them weaker.

After some more smoothing of the axis bar, I re-assembled. Went back together ok, but some cosmetic damage to the axis lock buttons.

I could clean them up, but I don't think I will. After lubrication It works ok. The axis lock is much better, not like Benchmade, but WAY better than before.

To get it to open easily I needed to loosen the pivot to the point where it has a little play both horizontally and vertically. Won't swing closed without help.

Whew....lot of work, not really worth it IMHO. The EM01 is better, really small though. Too small to flick open, for me anyway.

Build quality is good enough, but opening and closing has a rough feel. Seems to be where the liner lock rubs the blade as it is opening and closing.

I could take it apart, but I don't think I will. Neither one of these was a winner for me, I'll probably give them both away. Decent knives for the money,

but they won't make me give up Spyderco!

Filedog,

Your sentiment is similar to my few pages back when I got the Resilience. Spyderco is so much better.

Having said that, I bet the two you have will smooth out with use / breaking in. I mentioned (and still do) several washing (liquid soap) & oiling will drive the 'gunk' out & the knives' mating surface would have polished each other.

My EL02 was very rough, but now it's one of the smoothest.

These are workhorse for the money. Speaking of which (workhorse): ICEL folder that uses same steel as Victorinox: sharpens easily & very thin flat-convex profile. The backspring is so strong, no blade play. The only thing is the belly right opposite of the nail nick will hit the backspring if the knife is closed with a snap, ruining the edge. Obviously the one in middle :p

Dagon, Stefan (stschmalhaus), this is European brand ;), I'd like to see your review:thumbup:

Yes it is, the ICEL is a monster melon knife ( my intended POU ;) )

The biggest issue with this knife is the solid feeling can cause me forgetting it's not a slip joint !
There's a springy vibration along the whole blade/handle when blade is tapped sideways around the tip, and spine whacking will only fold it if done pretty hard (whack), and it won't budge with spine tap (the usual check for liner lock) at all.

There are imperfections : spring not flushed when closed, handle slab (black synthetic) not contoured to match the bolster. However, as the knife is designated as farmer knife (from the website), these imperfection doesn't matter! I'm figuring out how to prevent the nick to the edge when snapping shut. Can't increase the kick height, as the blade tip is barely covered in the handle when closed. I guess need to dig some channel to the backspacer/spring :(

Detail pictures of Enlan EL02

It came a bit stiff from the factory, and the omega springs are too thight. Im thinking on removing one of them. I love the G10 texture, is very agressive :)

Thanks Chris!! Totally happy with the EL02 but the axis lock is too stiff, playing with the knife makes my fingertips hurt :-( blowing an omega spring out will sort that issue out :-)

Maybe not necessary. Sand the sharp corners of the buttons (be careful, don't let the grit gets into the spring chamber) and play with it a lot. My EL02 is pretty smooth now ;)

Got an EL02 yesterday. Pretty nice overall, (mine is the micarta scale model), but the buttons ARE sharp. Tough to open and close multiple times, cause it eats my fingertips.
Removing a spring might be a problem though, as the bar might tend to not stay straight as it locks. I bent the springs slightly to make them weaker on the EL04, but now
engagement is weaker and there is some blade play. I really like the hollow ground blade though.
