Damn, just got my second 763 in the mail today, what a beauty! I already had the G10/whatever-random-plastic one, and it was pure sharpness, functionality and just sheer pleasure all around. I wanted to try the aluminum version, and It really feels great in the hand. A tad heavier than the G10 model, but still the same awesome blade which excels for me at light edc tasks.
I liked the G10 model for what you get at that ridiculous price. Only thing I did not like was that the G10 wasn't exactly flush with the liner insert at the spine where the jimping is at. The 'jimps' on the metal were a little off in comparison to the 'jimps' on the G10. That did not alter functionality or anything, just a cosmetical annoyance.
I'm glad to see that my aluminum version is completely flush, scoring better on F&F.

The screws (round, convex screw head) are also different in comparison to the G10 model (flat screw head). Anyway, I can see a lot of pocket time in the near future for this one. Really like the feeling of the aluminum.

I mean...there's clearly a problem with this, right? This is as of today 11/13/12

I don't know man, I'd just wait it out if I were you. For me, it usually takes 4 weeks, it has been longer, it has been less long as well.

There's an ongoing problem with U.S. Customs, with packages stacking up at ports for weeks or longer. Some dealers on the Bay were complaining about it. Some packages are delivered on time, but you can't count on it.

Perhaps there is a similar Customs problem at the exporting end.

On a recent shipment from Singapore, the seller graciously refunded the shipping charge due to the length of time the package was tied up at port. We thought the package was lost.

This week, I ordered flashlights from China as Christmas presents. The tracking says delivery may not be until Dec. 27.

The Postal Service can't tell you what's going on and says it's a Customs issue. Good luck getting Customs to tell you anything.

Not sure what causes the delay. One thing though, my shipping track always ends with HK instead of CN.

Maybe try posting on the knife's comment section (assuming it's exduct).

One package left Singapore on Nov. 1 and arrived in Los Angeles on Nov. 3.

Wow!

Now for the bad news: it's been held up at the Los Angeles USPS sorting facility for 11 days and counting.

Something to consider when ordering knives from China.

Did a clip mod on Sanrenmu 763 and Enlan EL02 following tips on YT by ArsonHammock. Turned out nice, and it is that dark (compare it with the blade and screws)!

Took off the EL08 clip, and I analyze the lockbar stabilizer, it does stop the lockbar from overextending when unlocking, and when being pressed towards the spine (back of the handle, where the spacers are). There're some space for the lockbar to move until it hits the stabilizer.

:) 5 new knives delivered today: :D

Ganzo G711, Heavy duty knife, just fills out my hand. Apparently it is a copy of the Benchmade Onslaught Mini, although I wasn't aware of that when I ordered it. I really like this one, but the axis lock still needs to be worked in, pretty stiff when trying to retract the blade:

Ganzo G704, I love the finish on this blade, is it bead blasted? Great jimping on the blade, and the axis lock on this one is much smoother to play with in comparison to the 711. I do not really like the pointy end of the pocket clip though:

Enlan EL01 w/ the black finish (sorry for lint that came from my pocket!):

SanRenMu 763 - damn this guy is tiny! a drop of oil just slicked up the axis lock and this thing is perfect to edc

Enlan EL04, interesting shape, not sure if I like it better than my EL02 or not, they are otherwise very similar:

Re the Ganzo G711: the shape of the textured handle reminds me of the excellent Spyderco PPT. The handle is indeed hand-filling.

The blade is somewhat reminiscent of the Enlan EL-08 and is sharp out of the box. Grinds are good. The G711 comes with double thumb-studs (yea!) and a standard pivot (double yea!)

The steel is Chinese 440C, which is really just 9Cr13Mov. Although construction is open-pillar, liners are not skeletonized and the knife is heavier than it needs to be.

The Axis-style lock on mine is absolutely as smooth as that of any of my BMs. Out-of-the box, opening and closing is a delight.

F&f is mostly very good, although the clip looks cheap. This is NOT a clip for those who like folders to ride deep-pocket.

The G711 feels good in the hand. It would feel even better with jimping.

Of the larger Chinese models I have, I'd rate the EL-08 and the G711 as the best so far.

My G711 arrived a bit stiff too, but after a day of opening-closing it got really smooth. Its curved handle feels good in the hand although a wider cutout (like on the EL08) would make it better. It excels in slicing too:

Thanks for that info. The Hinderer-style stabilizer is a nice attraction.

In fact, the EL-08 has a lot going for it: a good blade, double studs, a G10 scale, a bit of jimping (not enough), frame lock, open pillar construction, choil, and that stabilizer.

The cons are the weight and a non-standard pivot. The extra-cost, optional pivot tool doesn't do a thing for my two EL-08s. At this writing, I have no way to adjust the pivot when its time comes.

If cosmetics is not your concern, perhaps file a notch for (-) flat head screwdriver. Or use the tip of a drill holder without the bits (those are triangular in arrangement I believe). Just some ideas.

Still don't understand what's wrong with the tool?

Tool is worthless -- won't turn pivot in any direction.

Still don't understand why anyone would design a non-standard pivot, produce a knife without a tool to adjust it, and only later produce a tool, which in my case doesn't fit.

Does the bit end not fit? It won't grip the pivot properly?

Just saw Srjoben's video on YT on how to overcome this. Hope it helps. Google srjoben el08 pivot on YT.

Ah, Srjoben's vid tells the story:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAV...M3iMOZlJ9Rh8yYtmA&index=32&feature=plpp_video

Enlan makes TWO different triangle-style pivots. Or maybe more than two, for all I know.

The pivot tool I was sent fits the LARGE size triangle pivot just fine, thank you.

The one I was trying to adjust has the SMALLER triangle pivot. The tool simply doesn't fit this pivot screw. And nothing you can do will make it work on that screw.

One of the commenters on the vid said this:

"i have to wonder what they were thinking when they decided to use all the security screws. possibly they just want you to buy a new knife when it falls out as many people would do when buying an affordable knife that you can't find a new screw for."

I posted earlier that the Enlan EL-08 is one of the better large Chinese models I have seen.

That said, Enlan's business practices are simply deplorable. You have no idea whether you're buying a folder you will ever be able to adjust.

Consumers wouldn't put up with this sort of nonsense with a higher-priced folder. And we certainly shouldn't with a budget knife that carries no warranty or manufacturer support.

I do agree that they shouldn't use these nonsense screws. Having read many comments on this, my plan when buying them: try making the tool myself or cut a slot for standard flat head screwdriver.

After all, my knives are user, so I didn't mind. The other day, I 'destroyed' one of the clip screws of SRM 710. Out of the three, one kept slipping the driver, so I cut a notch with diamond file. Didn't work well, amost 1/3 of the screw head (area) is out, and it still won't budge using various flat screwdrivers. Finally put some tape over it, push the screwdriver in and managed to remove it.

Long story short, I'm prepared the same when my Enlans require dissassembly ;).

Still, they should use a more user friendly type of screw head :(

I couldn't resist so I took my dremel and widened the cut-out on the handle of my G711:

I knife people!! I want to ask your particular experience with the Inron MY803 over the time. Some people complain with the locking mechanism.
I i saw in youtube there is some lockbar faliure and blade play.

Whats your experience with the Inron MY803 ??? over the time? How it performed ?
