Can you share how the EL04 handle performs? It looks more comfortable than EL02 variant, while blade shape is basically the same. Will it be awkward to hold it edge up (like in Mercop's IET-see Prac Tac subforum) or icepick edge in?
I googled "Mercop's IET". The handle is comfortable holding it edge up but holding it "icepick edge in" feels a bit uncomfortable because of the pocket clip position.

Vortex, I managed to see your pictures. Very nice phototaking skills. The blade shape is a little different from the EL02.

I ordered some screws and will see if they fit.

Personally I have the EL 02 02b 04MCT and the 06.

note the new pivot screw. I still prefer the 04mct. Liked it enough to order another 2 more.

Thanks! :)
That digicamo EL06 looks really cool! How did you cope with the new pivot screw?
As I see the new EL01 with khaki handles uses the same style pivot...

Its ironically easier to open, what you need is just a screw driver that fits between the curve and firm gentle pressure to open it. If you are going to replace the screws, its m3 5 size. I replaced mine to normal stainless screws and it may need a washer. The benefits is that i know i would be able to open it as I wish but it doesnt look as good.

I got a small 401 that have a stuck pivot. I tried boiling it without sucess. I finally dremel a slot, unscrewed it and replace it with a screw. I am not sure if it would need a washer or lock washer. The material on the screw is very strong, so you can usually turn without damaging it but this was a hex key and it was stripped. el04mct got a blade grind thats different from the usual hollow grind. it spots a Flat grind ( i think) Its almost like a scandi except that it has a secondary bevel.

Its a liner lock ( the el06pf)

Another that i really like is the SRM 603. Really small and I like the weight. Its light and almost like an opinel.

Thanks! Mercop has his own thread here under Practical Tactical subforum.

What's the size of that EL06? Does the coating process soften the blade as I found on Sanrenmu?

Hi

I got no idea if it softens the blade but most likely if there was a baking process which tempered the blade a bit softer.

Do you have a review of the knives on the website? I do not own a sharpener that can sharpen at a fixed degree. I am using a stone and have a belt sander and I do not want to take a new knife on it anytime soon. MAybe I should invest on a adjustable degree sharpener. Do you think its worth it because I can get a belt sander for about 2.5 times the cost of a sharpener.

Theres a m020 that I bought. enlan. It is smooth and feels quite solid. carbon fibre scales if thats you thing. I like it.

Is your 763 lb 763? what handle material is it?

anyone own this? any idea what wood is it?

thinking of buying it but I cant sharpen serrations and I am worried wood handles dont edc well.

Masa,

It's the black G10 original version, wih axis. It's now only used if sheepies around so not to scare them. I like using the Navy K631 more.

Not sure about the wood, and I dislike serrations too. Always buy plain ones. Some suggested using the round rod sharpener to touch up, or sandpaper wrapped around a stick (chopstick?).

I sharpen freehand, and have limited tools. All the angles I mentioned is approximation gauging wih eye comparing to mental note of what 45 & 30 degree are. Unless you have the machine to run belt grinder, it is cheaper to use sandpaper.
As much as I can, I try maintain a 'fixed' angle, but being freehand, naturally the edge becomes slightly convex.

thanks for the info. I think I will get a 763. I got a 631 navy. It is nice with its long cutting edge but the price is higher than the enlans.

In sharpening, do you find a difference in hardness between the SRM, enlan and Navy?
I just received the g10 el04. I like it more than the el02. The grind is also not hollow. Its like a scandi but with a secondary bevel, a flat grind?

I have a Navy 507 which a seller recommended me. I didnt know that it has a one sided g 10 which I dislike. So being a not so favorite, I abused it and used it in the kitchen to cut everything and left it damp and wet without oiling. Its coping rather well and ironically its the knife I use most.

Enlan seems to be hardest to sharpen. Simlar to Vortex' observation, SRM second, Navy seems third. Gettin similar bevel on Navy is easier than EL01, which was super hard wih my stones. I don't have large SRM to confirm, comparison was between Enlan & Navy.

However, the Navy seems to hold it pretty well. My resharpening resulting in 1/3 to 1/2 inch wide bevel, you won't believe it was FFG  while on EL01, it result in similar wide bevel like CtA photo. Once bevel established, Enlan keeps it long ;) EL02, being hollow ground, doesn't result that wide, or perhaps I did it at thicker angle. All freehand, and each being different 'sharpening project', I might have set the angle differently :)

Does anyone have a SRM GB-704 and/or Enlan M020-FB (M020-HF)?

What are the impressions? I'm looking for small urban EDC knife...

Hi I have the 704 and I like it but it looks a bit squarish and theres a lack of landyard hole. Its not too easy to open due to the small thumbstud buts its sharp, grippy handle material, have an uncoated blade, quite rust resistant and is light.

The m020 is not as light, a little slippery but opens smooth and the height makes it comfortable to hold. What I do not like is the black coating and it seems a little heavier than the 704.

I feel that the 704 would take neglect better but the m020 is really nice.

Hi mantzao, is there a pm function that you can use to send me instead? I cant access my email somehow.

thanks for the info chris Sharpening to a scandi is what I will do to the EL4

Got a box from Hong Kong today:
Navy 631
Navy 628
Bee L01-1
SRM 604
SRM 605
Enlan EL-01

And a reversible bit T6-T10 screwdriver.

First impressions,
Navy 631, interesting, but picture an 8" knife with a 4" blade and only 3" of sharpened edge.
Navy 628, This is my pick from the group, picture a tenacious with a choil you can put your index finger in.
Bee L01-1, Alright, not as heavy as the Enlan and the micarta feels like plastic.
SRM 604, even smaller than a 710, liner lock is paper-thin, but it was $3
SRM 605, same as above.
Enlan EL-01, still wicked (my second).

All-and-all im pleased, not excited but pleased, I may part with the Bee and the 631 if one of the guys at work likes them, the srm's will live at the bottom of my knife box forever, im sure. The Enlan will likely end up a gift for someone, someone I like. I think the 628 was the real keeper in the group.

Question, whats the biggest SRM knife? I like build of the 710 but im tired of key-chains.
