My research has said otherwise, cheapest I have found in Canada is around $70 and I found out that the Native doesn't have liners. Imagine that! the Spyderco has a "glass reinforced nylon" handle with no liners and the knock off has full length stainless liners and G10 scales. It has to be said that the Spyderco is made in the USA, for those of you that find that important, and it is made from S30V, whereas the 628 is 440c (they claim), I finally took mine to the stones last night and I have no complaints about the steel.

The Spyderco Native is about my least favorite Knife.I find it hard to sharpen ,as the sv30 powder steel sharpens into shards and not smooth like carbon steels. Here is a place in Canada that has one for 60 dollars http://www.warriorsandwonders.com/Spyderco/Spyderco_Native_III_Plain_Edge_Folding_Knife .. Some of my Favorite Spyderco's are the Sanremnu made Byrd series..I have a Catbird in my pocket right now..I have some expensive knives but I'm not a steel snob..If it has functionality, I'll carry it.

I read mostly good thing about Spyderco. Perhaps it's a bad heat treat? Lot's of their other S30V are reported doing very well ... If you don't mind, send to them for inspection.

The K631 is so nice in the hand, although the weight of the handle is too much to the rear. Pinching the blade by the choil & thumb ramp you'd feel the weight 'pulling' it backward. The praise should still go to Spyderco as original designer. One day ... I might just get one. Endura 4 ZDP189 here is sold at 300$ (US$!).

the jimping on the k507 is very shallow... followed by a rounded spine.

got the 763, it is nice but i notice that theres no liners under the scales? I reckon its ok since its strong. Got the 781. its very tight an hard to open. I like the T16. Its got a saw and the knife flicks open easily.

763 with thin profile is meant to be slicer. Been using it for months and it holds up perfectly! No liner is not an issue as handle profile is short/stubby.

I tried to buy one or two 763 as spare but they are out of stock! Whats interesting is that its light, lighter than the 704. its thin alright. thanks for the recommendation.

here are they.

I need to cover my butt here, I didn't want to turn this into the "Hate on the domestics thread" I just wanted to discuss my own observations between a commonly available knife and an economical, similar looking competitor. I don't need the Spyderco guys after me, the last thing I need is someone sneaking up on me with a Spydie Civilian:eek: So once again, Spydercos are great, I love Spydercos, I own one, 2 more on the way, ill buy more, I swear.... please don't hurt me.

Back on topic, I waited for over a month for a 763, PriceAngels finally sent me an email, discontinued, or out of stock, I cant understand what they are typing half the time.

I looked at at W&W and while they are in the same country as me its in Vancouver which is almost twice as far from Toronto as Florida, so with shipping the price is back up over $70, thanks.

Thanks for the great posts guys, im thinking with my next order I am going to go through the Enlans, 2-4-5-6, does anyone else think that there is no Enlan EL-03 because the Chinese are superstitious about that kind of stuff? just wondering.

hi theres el03 3a b c d . theres el01 too but you probably already know that.

cheap knives are good especially if you are unsure if you will even like or carry it.

No, if any, Chinese is superstitious about 4. There's Enlan 03, 3 variants IIRC. Saw it somewhere, sorry, can't recall the links.

i prefer el3c

i am thinking if I should get a el01 in brown but i do not quite like the flipping part of the blade, feel that it may interfere with some cutting and i do not quite like false edges.

I havent had any problems with the flipper on the EL-01, whether cutting, chopping, batoning or sharpening, for the 18$ they can be had for you cant go wrong. Does anyone know where I can get an EL-03?

Dude! What's that tiny little thing between the 704 and the 763?

hi thats a 681, its a ( i do not know what lock) like buck 110. Its very light and its a lot of knife in a slim package. I am going to try my hand at sewing a small pouch for it.

I am a fan of small knives. I find it more difficult to make knives that are in small spaces.

I just found a EL-03D on ebay, $21 shipped, forward swept and serrated, sweet! When my files are done with those serrations... they are gonna be scary. Has anyone found them cheaper than this?

Hi thats a T16, nice but i am no good with sharpening with recurve.

It comes with a saw and the blade is a liner lock.

Techno z,

What do you plan to use the knife for? defense? I have a knife thats curved like that. Its highly specialized and is used to cut the stems of bananas.

um... yeah... Bananas, ill go with that. And I know what you mean with the recurves, if its close enough to straight ill just straighten it out with my stones, but if I cant it gets a ceramic rod and a weak stropping job.
