Stolen Rod Olson timascus unique one!!!

Hi I'm Cory and I'll help clarify the situation because I'm just as confused as the rest of you guys. I know him from Instagram and think he's a great guy! We have been messaging each other for a while and talking about knifes and became friends. I literally just received the Olson that same day (Monday) in the mail, I was chasing a grail and needed quick funds and asked him if he'd like to purchase it. It's a very small knife for a guy with huge hands so I didn't mind selling it. He suggested I make a post on BF so it would be legit and it safe and so I did. I shipped the knife on Monday insured via USPS for the full ammont it arrived today. The knife was definitely in the box when I shipped it, in its pouch, wrapped in brown paper. What happened to it after that i have no idea! I was so excited to find out how he liked it only to find out it wasn't in the box. I taped that box up personally and the tape was still intact but no knife! I am so confused. I did file a claim with USPS and am willing to do the right thing. I am an honest guy and anyone who knows me on Instagram can attest to that. I'm new to BF so don't have a following yet but that doesn't change who I am. I am not placing blame on anyone til I have more info on wtf happened.

My only intentions were to inform the forums that this model knife is stolen !
I'm not blaming anybody for this ! Just wanted the forum members to be cautious if they could if they see this knife posted for sale or trade. Yes the deal was made a day before on ig and I paid with PayPal, Then I asked the gentleman if we can add transaction on forums just so it would be safer for both of us, and we did.
Again I just wanted to inform the forums that the knife is stolen ! As of today! Because it's not in my hand and I'm the owner now , maybe the usps person or whoever that has it would be dumb enough to post !

I feel like I'm being judged here for having 1 k loss out of my pocket and being under investigation from some forum members?
Thought this was like a brotherhood for solid knife guys?
I never bullshit people and been straight all my life!
Maybe started a post kinda wrong. Wanted to let the forums know my knife has been stolen and if it appears somewhere here , to make me aware !
That's what I would do
Thanks for reading this hopefully non of you end up in my situation

So the knife was put in a box. The box was closed and taped. Then the guy recieving the package gets it still unopened and finds nothing in it? Is there a way to be sure the package was not opened before it was recieved?

Because if the knife was put in the box; the box taped; never opened before the guy recieved it; then something is not right.

I know how to loose too, I'm not crying about loosing this piece or , blaming anybody for this , just need help from members to look out for this if pops up! Sorry texting while driving misspelling stuff !

Hope you get your knife back, as well as a hefty fine for texting while driving in LA. Pay attention to the road.

Sorry for your loss. It's a cool looking knife. Does the disk around the pivot spin when the blade opens and closes?

How do the very few shady USPS (?) workers always figure out envelops containing the good stuff? Do they x-ray things routinely or go by touch and looks? I wish they'd steal some bills instead. :-D

I believe they weigh every package. If you contact them you can be sure the package wasn't empty when it started its journey.

I signed for the box, a lady mail man, box was kind of light , i signed for it , I opened from one side in front of her , said it's empty, she said , I had nothing to do with this just brought it over , my dumb ass , shouldn't have opened it !!! It was just brown paper in there , I spoke to the supervisor, they'll get a statement from her ! That I opened it I front of her , also under the clear tape was like a blue surgical glove piece. Here are some pics. And another thing , if I was to screw the seller , keep this knife! Why would I send PayPal friends and family!!?? What's the reason?? I really don't care what happened, it's a principle thing now , I have knives over 4 k and don't need to scam this out of somebody's hand. And No!!! I

don't think it's Corey , they guy I made a deal with , he wouldn't do this , I don't think so

What I tried to post just have you guys let me know if you run into the knife , turned in to a big deal

I asked the USPS to give me the weight as proof and it should be weighed at every stop on the way when checked in but they said they don't weigh flat rate boxes. I will have more info tomorrow once I talk to a supervisor and file an investigation with the post office authority! I will not let this rest something is very fishy. I sent that knife with speed and care as I do all my knives! Insured for the full amount and all. If it was opened and stolen by USPS then that's pretty bad and hopefully the investigation will uncover that.

Maybe the thief did it to avoid fingerprints? Or they are required to wear them to protect against germs or what not.

Can mail handlers see the isurance value? That would explain how they swipe only high value things.

I purchased a smaller pocket clip from some dude whom sent it in a small envelope which I received with nothing inside. The envelope was ripped though and taped closed again but thinking back reconsidered and asked.

I don't remember if he ever answered, he did say he really wanted me to have it and sent another. I received another envelope with a plastic roll taped inside.. but nothing inside it. I was confused and thought he may have been trying with me.

Meh. I just nevermind. I'll never know. Total mystery.

Oh, my point was it's not so uncommon to find mail disappear. Insured and otherwise.

On the receipt received by the shipping party (corhoff) it will have a weight listed.

If you print labels at home via Paypal it will say insured if you do purchase coverage but will not say the amount of coverage.

Maybe those who steal from packages figure small flate rate insured boxed probably have small high value easily sellable items in them like watches and cell phones. A valuable knife was probably a surprise to them and has a much more limited resale market

Why would I send PayPal friends and family!!?? That's a good question and also why would you sign for an obviously damaged empty box ? It looks like the box got crushed in transit, contents fell out and being the seller was fully insured , you're lucky. Also when mailing something so small and expensive please pony up the extra few bucks for REGISTERED MAIL !!! It's shipped separate from the rest of the mail in a locked mail bag, and signed for by anyone that touches it ! ;)

Not making any accusation here.
Just 2 weeks ago, Rod had this knife pictured on his own Instagram site. This knife has had a very adventurous, although short life.
Call me cynical, If I were chasing a grail, I could come up with a scenario to get the USPS to pay for it.
Yes, it is a truth, there are thieves working for the USPS.

Corhoff, that parcel has 2 inches of tape over only the closer tab ? Not what I'd call all taped up.

He suggested I make a post on BF so it would be legit and it safe and so I did.

This is what I don't get, legit to who? Safe from what? And you're both adults, why would anyone else's opinion matter on a deal between you and someone else? Weird to say the least..
