I wondered how long it would be before someone started something about Duane too.

Besides not being listed as a 'confirmed sniper' I found it interesting that Duane has some AKA names. Must be for safety reasons I'm sure.

I don't think its fair to this member starting this thread to start shouting at him as if he doesn't have a right to voice this publically. He shouldn't have to state a reason or be called a troll just because he is a knife nut and found a topic from someone that makes knives that was either good bad or ugly. I mean when you stop to think about it, isn't it ironic that the compassion and understanding shown by the wolfpack fan club of these guys is so evident in their forgiveness of Mick and Duane for their huge past transgressions and lies about service records and the deception used to apparently springboard their company and themselves to stardom, but for those like Kevin Mclung, Spark, Chris Osman, Lynn Thompson and others that stood up and called foul with good reason there is no forgiveness and they are forever after shunned for something much less in magnitude and for doing the right thing when you look at the facts? Where is all that understanding and compassion then huh? Oh, sorry, all out! Guess they had limited supply and it got used up on Mick and Duane. :jerkit:

In other words it seems these guys supporting Mick and Duane have big hearts. So, let the guy that started this thread speak his mind. If the wolf pack can forgive Mick and Duane for all they have done then they can just find it in their big hearts to forgive this guy and this forum for yet another thread on the subject also.

Keep in mind that this thread was in Whine and Cheese for a while.

I actually skimmed the thing, glanced and the .pdf and did not pay enough attention to names.

My apologies to the original poster for my mistake.

That said, if the OP doesn't already know, he should understand that there was a shitstorm of a thread on Mick Strider here and that people just got tired of it all after a while. Some of the reactions he's seeing here (mine included) are knee-jerk reactions to this history.

So Duane was not a Marine sniper? Big surprise. :yawn:

Those guys were set up by their producer. He (their producer) knew neither of those guys could sing, but they had "the look," so he sold them off to the public as singers. And after that mishap where the record skipped...where the record skipped...where the record skipped...he dropped them like a bad habit. Funny comparison however.
 
Actually, I would think that the real problem is that Duane has other duties with police agencies as a sniper, or that he teaches snipers. He lacks the qualifications that he alleges. That can get good people killed.

When I was in the sheriff's academy in 1973 we had an instructor who was allegedly a Naval Officer. He spent his 2 weeks off on weekend warrior duty, got his pay differential for a bachelors degree and other bennies. Turns out he had 19 years in when his house of cards came tumbling down. He forged everything, from his college degree to his miltary record. He didn't have either.

He received pay and other bennies basd on falsehoods. He taught and trained others based on his falsehoods. he endangered every police officer he taught, as well as the public, based on his falsehoods.

If Duane is doing the same, someone may be or has been killed as a result.

That makes me angry.

Before I apologize for my remarks can someone PLEASE direct me to where it is determined that Duane and this Poland fellow are one in the same as well as the other aliases alleged to be used?

Where did I miss this fact???
 
I reviewed the DD214 form from the link Cougar posted.

I assume the logic is supposed to go like this:

Mr. Thomas D. Poland is the real name of Duane Dwyer, co-founder of Strider Knives.

He served in the Marines from 1979 to 1983.

His DD214 lists his specialty as a a Digital Data Systems Technician.

He has made claims to be a sniper while in the Marines.

But I have some questions:

Is it possible that he could have been a sniper at some point while on active duty but that was not his primary specialty?

How do we know this DD214 belongs to the person we know as Duane Dwyer?

Yup, that is my question/issue in a nutshell!!

Is Duane Thomas Poland Jr. and Duane Thomas Dwyer one in the same?

This should be very simple/easy to prove by those who have alleged to have 'outed" him.........
 
Yeah, I've got to agree there myself. This info shows that Duane Poland Jr. wasn't a sniper but nowhere, unless I'm missing it, does pownetwork show that all of those pseudonyms actually belong to Duane Dwyer. Given the serious accusations they make, that information should definetely be provided or else all other claims are called into question.
 
I doubt very much that P.O.W. network would have posted that information if they hadn't checked it out and confirmed that they were one and the same person. They are not going to open themselves up to lawsuits by being so stupid as to make a mistake like that. In my opinion, anyone thinking that that Duane T. Poland and Duane Dwyer aren't the same person, is grabbing at straws.
 
They checked it out by service number AKA social security number. Then any names that come up with that social are secondary information. Its the same guy. I agree with Keith on this one.

I'm not known as a Strider person on these forums so there's no bias when I say this. Strider is a stand up company in my book and has always taken care of me when I've had to get blade re-profiling or had general questions, they even gave me a new knife right off the shelf onetime when they thought the lockup wasn't quite right on one of their folders of wich I beat the $hit out of! Personally I don't care how they built their company, many companies have been built on half truths! In the end it's the product and customer service that matter most to me!
 
I see nothing wrong with people supporting Strider based on the quality of the knives and the customer service that the company provides. There is also nothing wrong with not supporting Strider based on the fact that you have to respect the people that run the company before you can support the company.
 
What bothers me is I own dozens of Strider knives and I am a paying customer here. This kind of post de-values my assets and nobody but Strider knife owners are punished.

Why is this tolerated? What have I done to Spark and bubba to deserve this kind of treatment? :grumpy: Not kidding either. My Strider customs either wont sell at all or go for hundreds less that before all this. Me and people like me are the only losers here. WHY IS THIS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE?

How about locking this stupid thread please? Next time one of you decides to save the world please make sure its on your nickle not mine. PLEASE!!

My old comic book collection was "worth" thousands of dollars till people decided comic books weren't worth that much. So what?
But gold or stocks if you want an investment, not knives.

Excuse me? I didn't start this thread. It's also completely ass backwards to blame me for the value of your knives plummeting. Best as I can recall, I didn't sell you on a false bill of goods, or use some "history" pulled out of thin air to make you believe something was worth more. If you want to blame someone, rest it where it belongs.

I do find it utterly hilarious that somehow it's my fault that other people are liars. What's next, someone's going to accuse me of holding a gun to someone's head and making them claim they were a SEAL Team 6 DEVGRU Delta CAG PJ Special Tactics commando?

I'm going to refrain from commenting on this thread for a while. I'm less than shocked, however, about the subject matter.
