Strider Knives. Why So Much?

Because the owners are high speed, low drag covert tactical operators and it is good to support decorated war heros.

Why would you want to enrich a convicted felon, who masqueraded himself as a SF soldier, by buying his knives in the first place? If he was a properly contrite convicted felon, I'd be more open to the concept of redemption, however the vast bulk of his "fraudulent special forces" spin took place long after he left prison! I wouldn't spend a penny of my dough on anything that Mr Strider has produced....
 
Well I am somewhat in shock, I was unaware of this (whatever it is) I will say, it MATTERS. I will now read and research and spend way more time then I have or want to spend before advancing an opinion. I skimmed the book/thread and would consider that not much of a contribution as far as "Facts" go other than what appeared to be official text, even that needs to be viewed as what is alleged vs what was proved.
IF there is a shread of evidence that any of this is/was true then I will say - ANY of you that have the opinion that this does not matter OR so what as long as the product is the real deal - Shame on you. No point in even addressing you because nothing that that would matter - would matter to someone like you.
IF this is not true then what a shame, to bruise a Mans reputation like this. Tragic.

Either way, the Truth matters. IF the Truth doesn't matter here - then we are more lost than I ever thought.

I will say this, in light of this shocking issue, I will be cancelling plans for what wasn't "If" Striders but "How many Striders".

I can not follow through on ordering and taking delivery BEFORE I know what is likely to be the truth.

Especially, in light of what I would characterize as a deafening lack of defense by the Man accused of what are heinous acts in my paradigm.

He's never met face to face! (Lucky 4 him!) I myself love my Striders and also Emerson's. But will OUR "friend" find fault with Chris Reeve? After all ..he talks Funny.

How is it slander if it is true? It's all documented here on Bladeforums. Do some research. They don't come here anymore for a reason.

How can you ask? You don't know what my Life entails. Nor I, you. Boundaries......

It is not an issue that causes the planets to orbit nor was it a feature issue in any periodical I or many people rely on for "News" and information.

If you're still looking for a cheaper alternative, Stryder collaborated with Buck Knives a while back and made some nice looking folders in the $150 range. I don't know if they're still available though.

What's amazing to me is how I see all of the outraged alerts to the forum, about getting ripped off by so & so scammer, these usually result in pages long threads where many of you do superb things, some even releasing detailed info on the scammer in question. Strider, or whatever his name is, was/is the absolute worst of them all, absolutely the worst of them. It nauseates me to see such a scumbag generate such hero worship from so many very obviously ignorant folks...

On this, he is right. He is'nt slandering, he is pointing out what's been found out. What I do not like is the "Strider is dumb, his knives are dumb, and anyone who ones them is a mall ninja" type comments. Some of us like the knives his company puts out and that's fine, but why are we wannabe "high speed operators" for owning them?

Something I have found is that there is almost no company that dosent have some "dirt" on them. I try to look at the product rather than the person. Heck if I always looked to the person, I would not own a single Cold Steel:)

Did you read my links? The one from the owner of this forum is kind of hard to disparage...
 
Stryder's reputation is in question. Whether he/they are skilled knifemakers is not. Whatever his background and stories, when I saw his bowie entry between him and a few other makers, this question was answered. The question becomes, if one can make a composite titanium/Talonite blade and win that competition, why was the questionable back story necessary? The story bothers some people. The knife world has it's abrasive personalities, and they make some of the finest knives out there.
 
I really could care less about Mr. Striders past ..

What bothers me is what feedback I read about Striders customer service!!

That is real and applicable today. I respect that he builds a heck of a knife, but his service rap is just bad!
