Strider Opinions

Not sure if OP is still listening but here's my two cents:

All opinions of knives are highly subjective, but as evidenced by this thread, this is doubly true for Strider knives.

The only actual objective issue with the knives themselves is a lock-up problem that seems to have been fixed recently, if you buy a new Strider you should be fine.

Bottom line is, Striders resale on the forums here quickly at a high percentage of what dealers charge. So you should be able to buy one and sell it if you don't like it without losing much $$$. I consider paying $20 to "test-drive" a $400 item to be worth it.

Full disclosure: I would never buy a Strider, but only because the styling does nothing for me, I'm a huge CRK fan. I figure I have no choice but to give my business to people who are pure evil on a regular basis (ahem, Sallie Mae) so what's another drop in the pond?

The difference is when it comes to knives you absolutely have a choice and there are much better people that deserve your support.

I don't think Strider meant to use his sketchy past as a marketing campaign, but it has definitely worked from what I have noticed in the past 3 years. The more controversy (by the non supporters), the more talked about and more sales. Not a Strider fanboy, but it is getting old IMHO when a normaly 10 response thread about a KNIFE (object) gets blown into a never ending OWNER thread. IF YOU DON"T LIKE HIM DON"T BUY THE KNIFE. Change the channel once in the while there is always something else on... Anyhow, I don't care for the limited cutting edge compared to blade length on the design. Would be great with just the smaller choil.

Man this crap gets old. Is Strider going tits up and his shop unemployed the only appeasement?

That or him manning up and showing some genuine repentance for the lies and actions he built his business on. I am very fast to forgive someone when they are willing to own up to what they did but all I have seen from Burger is trying to pretend like he did nothing wrong and a real crappy attitude to people that point out his shortcomings.

I know where you are coming from but don't we all have a few skeletons in the closet? Are they only troublesome if someone finds out? Sometimes forgiveness doesn't require reciprocation. It's sometimes hard for a man. We had a recent President who committed adultery on the job and he sure didn't man up.

I'd love to get a SNG in CPM 154 sometime

I like mine. Got it for Christmas and I m almost over my reluctance to carry such an expensive knife. My comfort with using it is promoted by its seeming indestructibility. Great fit and finish on mine.

Let he who has no sin throw the first stone.

WOW... I read the last thread a while back, but not the others... Now you can't even pay me to own a strider.

I'm willing to bet he is still apologizing to his wife which us the only person that he owes an apology to.

Burger owes an apology to veterans and the knife community in general, if he comes clean, apologizes, and stops misleading people you will never hear another peep out of me on the subject.

I won't say I have never lied but when I have it was to keep someone out of trouble or a white lie to spare someone's feelings (i.e. no honey you don't look fat in that)

What I have never done was lie for personal profit. A man is only as good as his word. I don't do business with people I don't trust.

This. I might even buy a Strider if he does this, as they at least use good materials, and I find them somewhat aesthetically pleasing.

...eh, nevermind. I just called the Mall Ninja Club International, and they said I needed 3000 hours more of airsoft and Call of Duty before I can have one.

He sure does.
He paid his due's for the armed car jacking, so I have no problem with that.
But he keeps living the lie with his embellished Military carrer, and thats about as low as it gets IMO.

I could still forgive him for it, though it wouldn't be easy, if he would just come clean, apologize, and stop living the lie to move his product.
That will never happen though. He's to full of himself for that.

I can forgive most anyone, but if they don't wish to be forgivin it makes that kinda tough.

Better watch it! Paul Blart got his eye on you!

Slow down a bit. In one sentence you state he owes only his Wife an apology and the next he owes all of us an apology. A heart-felt apology would indeed tug on the heart-strings of any forgiving person, but the fact is that it is all too easy to crucify folks we don't know and especially on the internet.

I had no idea what kind of controversy I was stirring up by starting this thread. This is obviously an old feud. I'm not looking for any trouble. Just looking for info and opinions on Strider knives.

That being said , this has proved to be a very informative and interesting thread. I'm happy to have heard from everyone.

I still like the looks and design of Striders. I held a couple today. They have a nice (but surprisingly light) feel . But for the $400 they are asking , I have found other knives from other companies that I like better.

Mick Strider makes kick ass knives. I've handled and used quite a few of them but I do not own any. Lots of people don't like him and get pissed at the whole "Mickey Ray Burger" thing (look it up). All of the bullshit aside, he makes an awesome knife. I currently don't have the funds to own a Strider knife but I wish I did. They kick total butt. They are not a Sebenza but they will probably outlast any Sebenza made. Are they worth $500 or more? That's up to you. If I thought they were I would own one. I just have places where $500 is more useful than to pay for a knife. If I were wealthy, I would own a few Striders.

Love this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imOZy77dT3w

Throw your opinions and thoughts of the guy to the side.....the knives kick total butt!
