Strider Opinions

...eh, nevermind. I just called the Mall Ninja Club International, and they said I needed 3000 hours more of airsoft and Call of Duty before I can have one.

Meh, my SnG is just a FFG, CPM154, perfectly centered knife sitting on top of a chili can at work. Guess I don't qualify for Ninja status...

No, I actually think yours is pretty nice. I was primarily referring to Strider's weird customs and a select few of their standard line.

For me personally, I would never own another Chris Reeve knife that's made with S35VN with the RC of 58-59. I followed all the rave and hype of the perfection of CRKs, but the performance of them are so lackluster that I sold all of them except for my Umnumnzaan in S30V. I owned a Small Insingo, Large 21, and the 25. None of them could out perform my Microtech or any of my BMs, ZTs and Spydercos. Sure CRK has great warranty and service, but if the knife itself is the most important part. If it's a well built knife, I shouldn't really have to use the warranty.

I agree. Chris Reeve makes fine knives with excellent F&F, but they can't touch Strider's warranty. Snap a blade in half, and as long as the knife is unmodded, Strider will replace it at no cost. Snap a Sebenza blade and you'll be out atleast $125 at CRK. So a $400 Strider should, technically, last your lifetime if they remain in business.

Strider worked with Paul Bos for many years and perfected his heat treat. Many knives have passed through my collection and I can say from my experience, you'll be hard pressed to beat Strider/Bos heat treat. CRK runs his steel soft for ease of sharpening, which is nice if you like sharpening every few days, I don't.

What! The President lies to the entire world and it means nothing to the people? Perspective I reckon.

You do know he did end up apologizing right? And if we want to talk about perspective, while I don't support what he did, it was nowhere near as bad as robbing someone at gunpoint or stolen valor.

This entire thread is a joke. You try to get a word in edgewise and the Strider haters come out in spades to provide no proof to the contrary. Scoffing isn't a legitimate retort. If you choose to respond to comments with, "pfft. . .pfft. . .pfft" rather than providing any semblance of a viable retort, then maybe you should create a juniors forum and frequent that. Again, you keep calling for Mick Strider's head. Your problem lies with him, not his knives. The people that despise Mick Strider should be the last people to comment on their quality. They clearly lack the ability to work out a reasonable coherent argument; how can we expect any sort of unbiased evaluation of the product?

Strider's new lock geometry is nigh perfect. My knives are tanks. I paid the same price for a Z-Wear blade as I would have for S30V, S35VN, CPM154, PD-1.

So your reply is to insult the people that have a problem with Burger's lack of ethics and say that we can't make a coherent argument?

I have handled Strider knives and found that they weren't close to being worth the price tag. I then learned about the type of person Mr. Burger is and was very happy I hadn't purchased one of his knives because when I have a choice, and it's a hobby that I'm passionate about, I would rather support people that have a little more moral fiber than Mr. Burger.

Ask a thousand Veterans and report back...

I am a veteran. I can say without a doubt that the majority of the people I served with take offence to anyone that lies about their service.

Like the Chesty Puller avatar by the way

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I read that Mick doesn't even hold the business license for Strider Knives anymore. He still runs the show, but not on paper.

All this arguing is just free advertising for Srider knives.

It made the op reconsider whether or not to buy one and I'm willing to bet there are at least a few lurkers that learned about Burger's shady history. Even I got to read a few threads where he made an ass out of himself that I hadn't seen before.

Ask a thousand Veterans and report back...

Why 1000? I am a veteran, honorably discharged with a couple of years in Vietnam. Super squirrel? Nope. High speed low friction? Nope. Zoomie REMF, yep. Strider/Burgergler's stolen valor and general lack of ethics will keep me from ever putting a dime in his pocket. If a job is too tough for my Military I'll break out a pry bar like God intended.

I am guessing the Strider gang does not show up at knife shows. The picket lines must be huge in front of their table.... or do people just wait to get home to express their opinions (I am actually curious)? All I am trying to say is it sucks trying to get information on a knife from a knife forum but having to sort through hurt feelings instead of knife opinions. I always try to get updates on Strider quality control, steel or lockup, but the threads are always ALLOWED to go way away from the OP's question, you have to scroll through 15 personal gripes to get knife facts. I will probably get my answer 20 non relevant Strider knife post later.....but does strider now carbidize the sng lockfaces?

Ask Strider. You know he'll reply post haste and for sure tell you the truth.

Edit: A quick Google search found many discussions and vids on the subject, DIY instructions and one MSC Custom PT on a dealer's site for a mere $675.00 that claimed a carbidized lock face.
