Stubby folders

Medford has a couple that might fit your criteria. The Micro Praetorian, and the Panzer are just under 3", and the 187 Flipper is right at 3".

The Medford Micro Praetorian G has an overall length of 6.75" with a 2.875" blade of D2 that's 0.19" thick. Certainly stubby and beefy but perhaps too much so. Also, the price of $600 is something I don't want to understand! Much rather put that money towards a Direware S-90 or Hyper-90!

I'm really drooling over that Andre deVilliers mini Butcher!

Today, I'm carrying the Boker Pipsqueak in my watch pocket and I have a 940-1 in my back pocket. Now, I'm looking hard at the MPR and the Heat/F. Also, the Techno. I like a good Spyderco, myself.

I blame RamZar. He's my official enabler on here. :) :) :)

Forgot to mention the ZT0900 that has come to live at my house. My second Les George design. Got a ProTech Rockeye the other day. The guy repairing our 5 axis mill had one. It was sweet!

I've been mulling the HEAT and the ZT 0900, but I'm currently favoring holding out for a Viper Odino CF at a good price. More blade for roughly same size and weight.

I have two of the Viper Odino folders. They ride on bearings but some find them too weak in detent. Not I. I adapt. :) They're kind of big and wide for 3" blades. The blade is fairly thick at 0.15" but not stout enough (on purely subjective terms)! It's a good design but not for everybody.

Is the lionsteel SR2 a little too long for you? It's stubby sleek!

I'd say the LionSteel SR-2 is past this category unless you can fathom the 3.1" blade length. The titanium solid one-piece integral frame lock is VERY strong and comfortable in the hand but short and stubby perhaps not. LionSteel makes tough knives which don't look it.

Anyone have experience with the Benchmade MPR? I have my eye on one, but seem to find references to quality problems with it, particularly the lock. Is this legit, or just a whiner?

The only issue with the MPR is tip down carry only option. I didn't have any lock issues.

I just ordered it. Thanks for enabling my addiction! :)

FYI, I had to pass on a nice Chubby because the seller said PayPal only. Maybe I should have gotten the Techno instead, but the Techno is still in production and the MPR isn't.

Congrats knife buddy.

By the way, Chubby is the best slicer of the lot. A unique albeit polarizing design.

Viper is a nice knife!

For comparison purposes, I have attached pics of my DPx HEAT/F D2 OD, Extrema Ratio MF0 w/textured finish and Spyderco Techno w/CTS XHP. The top-to-bottom picture order is: HEAT/F, MF0 and Techno. These three just happens to be my personal favorite of the stubby folders.
