StypeCL aka Bradley Hendricks of Phoenix AZ, caveat emptor...

Miracle of all miracles, my knife arrived today. I don't know what finally did it but I'm happy and the knife is as described (NIB Manix 2 S90V). I really did not think I was going to see it this late in the game.

I was just about to file a report in Arizona. I called the Scottsdale PD and they forwarded me to the Glendale PD and they forwarded me to the Phoenix PD (they have jurisdiction for that area) and they told me to call the internet fraud division (which I think is FBI). The message at the number I called directed me to file an on-line claim with the mail fraud division at www.ic3.gov. Their number was (602) 279-5511 for future reference. I was going to file a report this afternoon when the knife arrived.

I sent a text message to Bradley (don't know if he receives them, but my last one was about involving the police very soon - so maybe it helped) letting him know that I received the knife and that I appreciated the fact that he made the effort to send it. I also let him know that there were two other people waiting for knives (I sent them emails asking if they received theirs yet).

So, you guys were right, persistence seems to have paid off. I appreciate all of the help and advice. I think the address info that cosmophonic supplied really helped us get a grip on the situation but again I do appreciate all the help everyone gave. It's interesting that the return address on the box I received today had yet a third address (Scottsdale) on it. I forgot to ask each of the PD's whether they had a record of Bradley but the Scottsdale PD did not.

Thanks again,

Mike

Just to clarify, the phone number that you posted is for the main Phoenix Division FBI Office, not IC3.

I am glad that you finally got the knife, but am honestly a little surprised that the police depts. considered what happened to be an Internet Fraud issue. The FBI can get involved because of an interstate nexus here, but to me, this is more like a plain jane theft, sort of like if you answered a Craigslist ad for something and then got robbed when you showed up to pay for the item. Regardless, again, you still got the knife.

I hope the other two folks who are still waiting will also get what they are waiting for. I also hope that whomever might be reading this thread will not presume that StypeCL is suddenly ok to deal with. I think that would be the wrong approach for sure, and will certainly lead to someone getting ripped off sooner or later.

I actually bookmarked this thread to see the outcome. Glad it worked out for at least one of the victims.

Thanks all and thanks for the clarification on the FBI number Chris (and I'm Jonesing for a Phil Wilson also). The Phoenix PD just gave me the number and I thought it was for their fraud division. When talking with the Scottsdale PD, they said the thought my best bet would be PayPal unless Bradley had a record (which they didn't see). It sounded like they usually did not get involved in internet business. In this day and age of job loss and lack of funds, I can understand that. I was hoping someone from the PD could pay him a visit, but again, they would need some sign of previous illegal activities first. If I hear more about the other member's knives, I'll let you know. Thanks. Mike

StypeCL was permanently banned.

thanks for the update mike, i have yet to receive anything in the mail. i will stop by my local police dept to file a report today. thanks for everything guys! you guys rock :D

Just for the update, if this thread hasn't turned to fossil yet. PayPal does work. As mentioned earlier, I finally got Bradley to send me my knife. At the same time PayPal "ruled in my favor". I did not expect anything to come of it figuring Bradley would have no money in his account. He actually texted and called the other day "wondering when I might pay him for my knife". Paypal had not informed me that they had successfully reversed the charges and had credited the credit card I use for the account. So now I owe Bradley money - kind of strange. I sent Bradley a text with a very subtle hint that it would be the right thing to do to reimburse or send the knives to the two other guys waiting for them before I paid him though I guess he could file a complaint against me if I withhold for too long. We'll see what happens. Mike

Mike,
While I understand your intent, two wrongs will not make a right.
You an do it with three lefts, but that is a different conversation.

Be the stand up guy you are and just pay the scammer his dough.

But please take your time in doing so!!

Lots of time...............:D

Thanks guys. I will definitely pay him. I was just hoping to remind him to follow through with the two remaining knives. He said there was no hurry (in my getting the money to him). When I texted him back to tell him I did receive the refund from PayPal, I also asked that he give me his PayPal address again (I have the old one but just wanted to make sure it was still good with all that has gone on). I have not heard back from Bradley and it has been a few days.

Maybe he should allow you to forward the money to one of the others still awaiting a knife so they can hold it as "collateral".

Of course if he keeps dealing like this he willl need that money to pay the premium on a Life Insurance Policy or at least a long term Disability Policy!!!
