SUBCOM Folder...on going review(s)...

Aloha guys!

I am using my SCF 1st Gen. as well. Awesome piece, didnt let it outta my hands since I have it. Its like addiction. CLB rules! ;)

Alohahahaha guys!

Thanks Outlaw45, smcfalls13, ghostrider, Zip, and 224477...you guys are too much, and I am blessed for that!:D Okay, about the "collector SF"...

There was a HUGE mix up in terms of materials used for this model, initially I suggested G10 for the framelock side, and at least AUS8 steel. I think Germany assumed that it was made with the materials I had wanted the SF to wear. Meanwhile, BokerUSA had to make it outta Zytel and 420J2...the 420was a fluke, but their Magnum factory could not obtain proper amounts of G10to meet the first production run. So here is the scoop:

SF's made out of 420J2 with the short clip "would" be considered a true 1st run. I *think* some guys in Germany are thrilled to have acquired one before the next generation comes out, which will have a longer clip, and AUS8 steel stamped on the SF's blade...

Anyway, thanks again you crazy knifebrothers, and be advised that there are not many if any, SF 1st gen. models left. I heard that BokerUSA had to ship some out to Germany...about 400, to help out with the demand for the SF there!

God bless you guys...take care.

Good thing I have another beater on the way, and one to go in the safe.;)

That makes 3, and I'll get at least 2 of the 2nd Gen:D

Aloha ALL,

I am honored in that I have received a quote for my SF design by a well known martial artist and real world SD instructor. I am forever in his debt for his time consuming review he did for the SF, and I am blessed to say that he is also a good friend.

"Chad Los Banos' design endeavor is nothing short of creative genius, meticulously developed and designed from the blade point to the lanyard hole. The Subcom F is both attractive and functional much to his credit. It is refreshing to see new, innovative and creative design work enter the knife marketplace."

Sifu Dr.Jan Miller, Dragon Tiger Kung Fu Center, Smithtown NY

Biased? Doubtful...even if it was, his reputation is on the line, so he would not back up a product that was a POS.

God bless you "SS", and mahalo.

Aloha ALL,

I found this posted over at britishblades.com and asked member who goes by Bardster if I could post his comments about the SF here. He kindly gave me permission to do so AND to mention that he has bought 5 of the SF's as well! Bardster, mahalo sir. Well, here it is:

"Yup that is indeed the factory edge. I have carried my other one nonstop for about 6 weeks now and havn't sharpened it yet. Gets used for opening all sorts. and its still allmost shaving sharp.
Although it looks small and sort of disapears in the hand it cuts like a big knife.
nobody blinks when i use it in the office. its great. If I was stopped by anyone and asked to justify it i would say that its a safe box opening tool, and it doesnt scare people like my perfectly legal pocket knife, showing the UKPK.

The opening gets easier - the khife seems to need wearing in. mine now opens so smoothly i can open it with a flick of my thumb. The new one is a little too stiff to do it with.
But its a superb design and I will continue to carry it as EDC.

I think - and this is opinion only - that a police officer would have to be having a really bad day, or you were being particularly stupid, to get pulled with this."

Quoted From Dr. Hannibal Lecter:

Dear Friends,

I am also in receipt of a SubCom and am quite impressed. I am going to carry it daily for a while and see how it works out. Very small and unobtrusive, but I believe it will be exceedingly useful.

Let me add an addendum to this tale, if I might: I am EXCEEDINGLY impressed with this knife. The 420J2 stays sharp WAY longer than I have any right to expect and takes a razor edge. The ergos are second to none. The fact that it disappears in your pocket until needed is nothing short of amazing.

This is EXACTLY what a "little big knife" is supposed to be.

Congratulations, Chad, on a flawless design.

Now, when is the ZDP-189/Ti version going to be out?
