Alright, I have been carrying both of my BO589's for
about 6 months. Saying I am hard on a knife is like saying
steel rusts in Hawaii. Anyway, I thought it about time I wrote
something on it. A couple cavaets first. I work for Boker, obviously,
and am a little biased towards this knife, and two, my major area
of concentration in the knife world in SD/Tactical applications, so that is
the mind I brought into the history of the SC folder.
Sometime in the middle of 2004, we received some protos from Chad in the
office, and my boss asked me to take a look at them. I liked them all, but
the SubCom really stood out.
In the process of going through them, I loved the SC folder more and more.
We managed to get it off the "drawing board", and into the production side, and the waiting began.
I have carried one since we got the first pre-pro models in, and love it.
The blade shape is excellent for a small, hideout slasher, and is small enough to go anywhere. It is non-threatening in appearance, and totally legal in most jurisdictions.
The steel outperforms any 420 I have had before, and everyone I show it to
ends up buying one.
I liked it so much, I sent them out to some of the best people in the knife world to get their opinions. Everyones feedback was excellent.
To this day, I carry one everywhere I go, usually two, and considering how picky I am, that says a lot.
In the final analysis, Chad has designed a knife that can handle any job I've put to it thus far. It's comfortable, strong, and the shape maximizes it's cutting ability.
Thanks, TJT
