Day two:
What is the secret in unlocking? My thumb is hamburger. I am going lay this one down for a few days to give my thumb a rest. The locking lug is easy to push back???? I don't get it why is it so hard to unlock?. Yes, I have lots of liner locks and frame locks.

Aloha gull wing!

Boy, this SF is not leaving a good impression on ya is it?:o

Anyway, scott is correct regarding the closing aspect. I kept it texture free to prevent accidental closure...that always sucks that's why.:p

Okay, try flipping your SF so that the underside faces you. So in other words, turn it upside down. Now, assuming you are closing it right handed, simpy push the framelock bar to your left with your "hamburger thumb". Use your index finger to begin the closing process by placing it on the blade spine and well, you know the rest.

I have found that people who have trouble closing the SF, this method works well for them until they get the hang of closing it as any other frame/liner lock.

Hope this helped, and again, my apologies.:o

Aloha billy1,

Welcome! Yes, the SF can be opened alright w/o the clip. I experimented with it minus the clip with my wife's SF for awhile. while the clip does afford better leverage, it just takes getting used to w/o it.

God bless and mahalo from Oahu, 1517hrs.

Hi Daywalker,
I have had my SF (AUS 8) for 2 weeks now. For the time being leaving the clip on. Finding it extremely easy to open quickly this way.
Your knife has become my EDC! It does everything I need a knife to do and then some.
Thank you for designing such a GREAT little tank!

Aloha bigbore.45,

Wow...I am glad that you are doing a mod! When I first saw the pics of your SF, I thought, "How the heck did the stud fall off and what's up with the blade?!!":o

Thankfully, all is good. Please keep us posted with your mod, I am interested in the blade's finish.

Hmmmmmm, can you imagine of this SF had a certain trademarked RoundHole?:p

God bless and thanks for your support:thumbup:

Hi,
the finish at the blade was made by simply scratching it with a (Dremel-like) tool:

Final step:
All went to Revierler, Austria for the final finish:

Blade satin finished,

Scale grooved, ...

and some nice glowpoints:

Aloha Billy1

Yeah, it is fast to open, especially if you hit the "sweet spot" on the stud closest my logo.;) I am very happy to hear that the SF, or "biscuit" as it is sometimes called, made it's way into your EDC rotation.

Really ya know, that lil' bugger can do a lot and it is well put together. Now that it has an AUS8 blade, it takes awhile longer between sharpenings...so that's a plus.

Enjoy your "little tank", and mahalo much. Be advised, things are going to to get interesting with this model.;)

God bless and thanks again:thumbup:

Daywalker,

Just got my SF. It's fantastic. Simple, functional, and elegant in design. Question: what do you mean when you say, "Be advised, things are going to get interesting with this model"?

Is this a Daywalker "casual bombshell" thread?

Cheers,
bk400

Aloha bk400,

Mahalo for your kind words. Did you get the AUS8 version or one of the first run 420J2's? Also, are you located in the UK, if I may ask that!:o

Anyhow, no...not a "casual bombshell thread". I think zenheretic has a patent on that!:p

Please, do keep us posted on your SF. Thanks for your support!

God bless and take care:thumbup:

Cripes, I had a hard time finding that thread! I had to ask the "threader" to btt it for me!:o

Yes, that's just PART of the "interesting" aspect. Being the Star Wars fan that I am, allow me to use a line from Empire, after Obi Wan says something, Yoda replies, "No! There is ANOTHER.":D Or shall I say...

OtherS!!! Well...we'll see.

Thanks for linking this thread here. God bless:thumbup:
