Summer snark !

The last few years I've been nursing a lost molar filling, because we don't have dental insurance. Two weeks ago I tapped out and asked around for a reputable tooth doc. That exposed nerve! So today was root canal day, they put a temporary crown in place also. The pain of the procedure was nothing compared to biting down on a cracked molar with an exposed nerve. Now to pay the piper... 😗

Just got a call from my cabin neighbors. Apparently, my wife forgot to close the windows. I ask her every time if she locked the door, and closed the windows, haha. So tomorrow, I have to make the 6 hour round trip just to close the windows. If it weren't so damn hot, I would just stay there for the weekend.

Neighbor brought a bigger green egg grill apart grill because he had tipped the one he had over and cracked a piece out of the dome . He asked if I wanted the older one. My first thought was to patch it with ceramic cement , after looking air over good and doing some research . I found out I could buy a new dome with the grill and extra accessories it would cost $1050 plus tax to buy what I have . A new dome is $176 so I ordered one I have been planning on buying one when we get to our final home in a couple years
Pork loin and potatoes are planned first try on it

iirc, big green egg warrantees the domes for life for any breakage

I will have to get used to temperature control then I will get some quality meats I cooked up some cheddar brats today . I have chicken thighs thawing for tomorrow evening.
With my surgery and everything else I have not fired up my smoker this year

It has been a rough week. Back to work, then I have lost 2 cousins about my age. Due to where we grew up most of us went different ways as adults because of the lack of work. But one was in the group of us cousins that when we got together , some adult usually ended up asking what the hell did you guys do now . Those are the best cousins. I am still not up to driving that distance so tomorrow I will have to lift a glass of Rye and give thank God made us Cousins

Had a nice mini adventure this weekend. I went to the old farm stead to the old farm house with some of my new power station/Solar Generator and Predator 2000 inverter generator (side walk sale). The power stations are just 1070 (Jackery 1000 v2) and 1024 watt hours (Percon E1000LFP and has battery heaters to warm them when charging the Power Station in cold weather) each with Lithium LiFePO4 batteries, NOT LITHIUM ION. I got them for my Bi-Pap and little fridge for the meds it stores in case of power outage. Of course the moment I got there the power went out and the storm blew down trees and such... I stayed to try put the reason I got them! Ran my Bi-Pap machine, electric skillet, electric kettle and computer microwave and TV. Mind you not all at once, one has a 1500 watt inverter 3000 watt surge and the other 1800 watts and 3000 surge. And drew down one to single digits and fired up the generator and topped both of them off, use one for lights and by Bi-Pap went to bed woke up. I was going to test the solar cells to recharge, but I was lazy and fired up the generator for an hour and recharged the Jackery. It takes a bit longer to recharge as it recharges a little slower to persevere battery life. (1.8 hours not using the battery damaging emergency charge.) Also topped off the Pecron as well to store at the old farm house along the generator. I didn't use to much gas for the Predator Generator, guess my idea to run the generator to power the power station/Solar Genator worked out. Really saw the combo type on You-Tube, so the gas will last longer if just used to recharge the power station/Solar Generators. The Generator recharges them faster than the solar panels. The Anker C1000 stays at home. The Jackery 1000 v2 is the carry around, and the Pecron E1000LPF was an after thought instead of an expansion battery for the Anker.

These are my investment for electricty for long term power outage and to keep my meds cold. One would of worked but I figured better get things before I go back in to car payment land. They all are about 1 months car payments each...the Sale price as I got them from their web sites. Oddly Amazon refuses to send them to me. Each would be around under two BK82s invalue for Becker Heads to easierly to factor the cost of them.

Keeping the Predator Generator light on gas use to save it will come in handy, also the solar panels to recharge them when that runs out. Thanks to that little test the super bad power company takes a LONG time to get power back around there. Glad its not the one where I live. I am more ready for unpredictable happenings that can happen.

Editcus: I saw on U-Tube the Predator 2000 ran for 5 hours and 38 minutes at a 1600 watt load with a 5 min eco setting warm up. Do that's recharging the Pecron and Anker BOTH at the same time to full FIVE times on 1.2 gallons of gas. The Jackery will take 1.8 hours to full charge but I can live with that.

I went with the 1000 watt hour storage class because they gave good watt out put, good battery size and easier to haul around.

mmm, og owner i would understand... the upper dome though, i've seen more than a few replacements, apparently sometimes the springs/hinge fail, and/or it "falls out"

i've noticed on the new models, there's an extra safety lip... i can buy a whole new ring kit for $180-ish? and a new rotating top dome vent for $80ish

mine is truly og, though, not as bad as the one i saw at Ethan's old place. so old that the buffer rings between shellls was basically just ... mush (also replaceable)

a while ago (3ish years?), i got a blackstone two burner "tail gater" folding griddle. pretty sweet. $300 ish.

proceeded to not use it at all last year lol... at which point i noticed that Traeger makes a larger one, with many more enhanced features,
more solid build, and well, just nicer all around but $800-850, and kind bigger than i will ever need.

still, i'd rather griddle with propane, rather than big green egg... but i like options.

also not bad are the new generation of outdoor pizza ovens - the solo has a wood fueled one, with propane option. temps from 650 to 950.

this means a pizza must be rotated like every 15-20 seoncds or it will burst into flames (at 900-950). pizza is flash cooked in 2ish minutes. superb.

I was under the assumption 'There would be NO MATH."

The Power of Math shows that Two Wrongs Make a Right! -1 X -1= +1! See TWO NEGATIVES MAKE A POSITIVE!

When I proved it to my nieces and nephews...their parents disliked me for that. One did a "Big Report" on it once...drove the teacher batty.

I wanted to argue, "Those Aren't Rational Numbers!!!", but ... they are.
What a mean streak of heat this week. Either that, or I'm getting too old for this! 🧐
