Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Sure here goes but as a caveat I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. I dont expect people to agree with me, that's fine.

Guy made a really good first impression. A while ago I contacted Survive! over a warranty issue on a 3rd hand knife I bought. I wasn't expecting much. I let him know I was the 3rd over. No problem. I sent the knife in and they sorted it out and sent it back, no fuss. I thought it was really good customer service.

I've spoke with him a few time son the phone since and he continued to make a good impression. Yes con artists are good at that. He answered questions I had, was honest about his products including being transparent about some issues they were having with one of the products I was looking at buying. A couple times I had some small issues with my orders or wanted stuff changed and he addressed it right away.

I don't know Guy and he wouldn't recognize my name but Guy and Survive did a good job at making me feel important and like a priority. Again a good con artist will do that but I'm still very happy with my orders and my interactions with them. On a personal level I have zero issues with the service I've gotten and I find him a nice guy.

My view on life is you need to have the emotional intelligence to separate business/work with personal. I had to bust my best friend at work for drinking on the job. Set him back for promotion for a few years and he had to go to spin dry. Still my best friend. Had another close friend who I sent home from a tour overseas because of his behavior, that cost him cash.

Thank you for sharing.

Nothing said here is really new as it's all been stated, surmised, or alluded to already in this thread.

This is why I can say I like Guy and dealing with him but don't make excuses for the past behavior (and have repeatedly said unhappy customers should go to the police or take him to court). I also recognize the behavior in the past is shitty. I'm willing to give people multiple chances, I don't condemn others when they don't.

It's not "past behavior" if they are still doing the same things.

How many chances are you willing to give people?

Survive has had multiple chances to correct their course but they keep doing the same things and making the same excuses. It's getting close to a decade now.

I was really disappointed they didn't clear their back orders by Christmas like they promised. I was rooting for them, think I said as much in here, and I looked foolish for it.

Generally it depends on what I'm at risk in doing so.

So this is another spot where I'm biased. I've never had a major issue with them so I haven't had the need to give them multiple chances.
I'm not sure why but I've just been very lucky dealing with them and communicating with them. I've acknowledged others haven't had the same luck.

If I was getting jerked around by them then absolutely I would be keyboard raging about their bullshit right along with everyone else. I haven't so I'm not going to manufacture outrage to fit in.

If I get fucked around with my other orders and I'm not banned by that time then I'll happily post in here that I got screwed over and I have egg on my face.

They did, as everyone and history predicted.

Generally it depends on what I'm at risk in doing so.

It is pretty much as everyone has pegged from the get go. You got yours so they're OK in your book.

Yes you have acknowledged their poor performance (albeit usually alluding that it is a past problem when it is clearly not) but as you still support them, it doesn't matter all that much. You got yours. But it would matter if you didn't.

There's no outrage to manufacture. I'm am not outraged at what they are doing. I am disappointed. They were a hot item for a while and came upon some issues. Instead of correcting them like they promised multiple times, they kept on digging and making excuses. And it was not that they had support one day and then lost it the next. Many rooted for them for years. But they continously disappointed and the support dropped off bit by bit.

I, and others, simply see what they have done and are doing and try to warn others that there are greener pastures. You are welcome to share your opinion, even an opposing one. But I don't know what you would expect when you acknowledge their issues but still support them for admittedly biased reasons.

It's all a shame too because their more recent designs are more appealing than their early ones.

I've said before, I really like the 7/7 design and would liked to have had one... much the same as a SNG.

My moral compass however won't allow me to support a company who's business model is based on "robbing Peter to pay Paul" nor can I support a company that was built on a lie.

I hesitate to reply because it will keep you involved in the conversation. However, this post deserves a rebuttal.

Since the very beginning, people have had trouble communicating with S!K. There are numerous accounts on this forum and other social media sites of users with issues being unable to contact S!K. They almost never answer their phone and seldom respond to email. And yet, we are supposed to believe that you somehow got in touch with Guy not once, but multiple times. Then, felt strongly enough about that to register an account on BF and bloviate about S!K.

To be blunt, you have zero credibility here and your posts reek of BS.

I’m happy you have had acceptable experience’s with your interaction with survive. I think it would be wonderful, if they made all the people whole who have been waiting a long time for a knife. I don’t think continuously taking pre-order’s, is a sound, long term business model to follow. If a company need’s pre-order’s to fund backlog, fund current manufacturing, overhead and fund personal and family cost’s of living etc. At some point in the future, alot of people are going to be left holding the bag, Unless survive change’s the way they do business, it’s a risky proposition to order from this company.

Must you taste dog poop to know it tastes bad?

Yeah, you are one of those "I got mine, who cares about others" types.....

I don't have any skin in the game and never will, yet if a knife manufacturer is admittedly years behind on pre ordered knives THAT ARE PAID FOR, then they ship out newer orders. and wait YEARS to fulfill said previous orders that, are PAID FOR, you are running a SCHEME. I would be not only worried about losing business, but legal issues. If it is considered to be a practice and intentional to keep money and not deliver the product, then you could be running a scam, and the authorities could step in. I I don't know if it is a scam or the intentions of the seller, and doubt anything intentional is set up to harm the buyer and provide illegal profits to the seller. All it takes is a zealous law enforcement character and you are in deep trouble, because now you have tainted funds and when you moved them from one checking account to another you just laundered money. I'm just sayin. Screwing with peoples money over years and years will catch up to you. I really hope this thread is just a bunch of grumpy, pissed, finger bandaged knife nerds gone wild.

I enjoy this thread for its entertainment value.

I dislike that it exists though because it means ... well theres hundreds of pages of what it means....
