I think that out of all the knife companies out there only this one is having these kinds of constant issues.

You have a point, but I would not rule this out. I have seen stuff like this play out before. It's really in their best interest to settle with him and move on. As long as he is out there releasing videos, he is undermining the confidence the consumer has in their products. And if for no other reason, YT'ers love them some drama; is another way to get clicks and drive up views.
 
It is not uncommon for an attorney to recommend a "good faith effort" prior to laying the smack down. It's like saying we tried to work with you, we tried to resolve this, and you elected to go the opposite direction. Guy probably can't afford to take any offers because he needs a scapegoat about as much as he needs the money.
 
“Interesting” that Guy now claims he never intended to manufacture knives. Yet, back in the beginning, he ran the “starter campaign” to raise money to buy equipment. I remember it at the time and actually believed him then and was pulling for him. hmmmm………

Before ANYONE starts treating this like it might be a legitimate issue, let’s review a few things.

Since 2014, Guy and Ellie have consistently misrepresented their lead times, provided horrible communication after the sale and made if very difficult for customers to get refunds. They currently have outstanding orders from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and this year.

As of today, there are 445 knives listed on BladeHQ that are made from Magnacut. Peters’ Heat Treating claims to have processed over 64,000 blades of Magnacut for over 100 different customers. 3V is an even more widely used and established steel. It is almost impossible to find another knife maker that is having issues similar to the ones Guy claims to have.

The problem is not the steel, kydex, the location, sick relatives, PayPal, creditors, the fire, the business partners, complications with the move, suppliers or whatever excuse they are currently peddling. Blaming the steel is a ruse. The problem is Guy. Always has been, always will be.

Another video. Guy now claims that Paul Nesper, the attorney representing Niagara Specialty Metals, has withdrawn all offers of compensation and basically told Guy to get bent. Guy is leaning HARD into the narrative that this steel issue has destroyed his business. He is throwing Larrin Thomas and Niagara Specialty Metals under the bus big time.

Again, this is Guy's version of events. It runs contrary to the experience of the rest of the industry, and Guy has historically had a problematic relationship with the truth...

I am enjoying how clearly keyed up he is, since he knows that as soon as this lawyer starts in on the facts, his whole battleship is going to be sunk, and it's going to be difficult for a felon to find another job where idiots just give him millions of dollars in cash "for preorders" LOL without receiving anything in return. Oops! LOL
 
Yeah it seems more and more probable to me that the quality issues seen will be linked to their internal mfg processes.

After watching several of the youtube clips one reoccuring theme is that he often states how they had to learn things from scratch. Initially some people might get the impression of an underdog fighting but to me the repetion of "we had to learn that..." sets of warning bells and suspicion if they know even basic stuff of what they are doing.

Let's not forget that they were "slow walking" refunds as far back as 2015. There are NUMEROUS posts on this forum from the start of S!K's business about refund requests being ignored. Even S!K tacitly admitted that refunds were an issue when they talked about how much money PayPal was forcing them to hold in their account due to payment disputes.

The issues that S!K are not due to "the decisions of these larger companies," but because Guy is incompetent.

Not to mention it is just good practice to try and avoid being adversarial, if possible. Not at the expense of letting criminals violate our rights if that is their determined course though.
