When you're in an industry you can wind up with tunnel vision. The other company may have only seen the raves and rabid fans and huge demand for those knives and decided to partner up. Then reality reared it's ugly head. What I really want to know is what happened between S!K and Millit. I know one of the founders of Millit left the company relatively soon after S!K moved into their shop. For a while, S!K and Millit were implying that they were partners, but the tone Guy's recent posts make it seem as if the relationship really soured towards the end. As far as I can tell, Millit is not saying anything and S!K is acting like separating from Millit is a really good thing...

Surv!ve has dropped the ball so many times they can't point a finger at anyone but themselves. Whatever they do it's only a mater of time before they mess up again.
And if the place is run by con artists; well they're not going to stop grifting and turn their lives around next weekend.
I know! They promised they were really close! But, but... it is a NEW SuRvIvE?!![]()
Sounds like they are trying to blame all their past missed deadlines on other people. From the Survive! update:
“We get to set the schedule using facts instead of relying on false promises.”
Sooooooo, they are admitting that they have been relying on false promises?!
These people are the worst.
Well, with their "Savior" Millit now gone, they're out of others to blame for their complete failure to meet production deadlines.
I remember when they partnered with Millit a couple years ago, that WAS supposed to fix all of their issues with production. <FAIL!>
They're such a train-wreck I just can't unfollow these fools on IG, I'm waiting for the inevitable "We're shutting down to reorganize, we'll be back!!!" post as they disappear with all the fan boyz knifes and monies.![]()
Someone can take the time to find the quote, but I think at one point last year S!K was talking about completing their backlog then stepping back from the business for a bit. Their story, plans, commitments, problems, blame, forecast, EVERYTHING changes with such regularity I have a hard time keeping up with it.
OMFG.
2/27 Survive! Shop Update:
"SURVIVE! Shop Update
The shop has been cleared out and cleaned up. This past weekend was spent taking care of some overdue maintenance tasks. This week we are working on replacing needed items and getting the shop set back up for making knives again. Next week will be all about shipping, shipping, and more shipping! A lot of machining too, of course!
The new waterjet is on our floor and we can't wait to see it in action. Right now it is in many different pieces, but the Omax setup team will be here in the next few weeks to get it put together. We have plenty to keep us busy in the meantime though.
To see it running, make sure you are following @surviveknives!
Moving Forward
This has been a journey. Every change, big or small, has always been toward improving in some way. Sometimes it has been a new process or updated design. Other times, change has involved some big investments. With the Starter Campaign, your help gave us the ability to do blade finishing ourselves. In the past year and a half, we've built on that by getting the equipment to do even more steps in-house.
Now, for the first time ever, we are in complete control of SURVIVE! production. We are choosing the best tooling and other consumables to make better parts. We are creating systems that prioritize quality and efficiency. We get to set the schedule using facts instead of relying on false promises.
This is a new SURVIVE!
Yes, we've said that before. The difference is that in the past we were taking steps down a new and unfamiliar path, with our success being highly dependant on others. Now we are finally at the top of the mountain, with renewed clarity. From here on out we are forging our own path, writing our own story.
The only things not made under our roof, fasteners and sheaths, are currently being produced by other Idaho based companies. They do a phenomenal job while being very easy to work with, so they have job security as far as we are concerned.
Everything else is now being done at SURVIVE! by SURVIVE! for SURVIVE!
All to serve you better."
I love that that idiot Ellie probably pounded this out on her keyboard, hearing the cry of Bald Eagles and The Battle Hymn of the Republic soaring in her head, all while thinking that people are as dumb as she and Guy are. First of all, I got a big laugh at the inference that all their problems exist(ed) due to other people or companies. Every maker or manufacturer who works with these scumbags should drop them as soon as they see this dumb update. These makers referenced at the bottom? They should do the same. "They do a phenomenal job while being very easy to work with!" would be a warning sign to any company paying attention.
"Now, for the first time ever, we are in complete control of SURVIVE! production." What a laugh, as though this hasn't ALWAYS been the case.
The good part is, with this newsletter ad-copy, now they literally will have no one to blame but themselves when nothing changes. After all, Guy couldn't even bolt scales on blade tangs and sharpen knives in anything approaching a reasonable time. Now that they're also "making" the blades themselves? LOL People won't ever see those knives.
Latest update from Survive is that Jordyn is back on the team to deal with emails
It looks like they're preparing their next excuse for delays.
From their Friday news letter :
Once all of the equipment is set up and making parts, we will be getting accurate delivery estimates posted on our Production Schedule page.
- The 5-axis mill. That is being built and should be delivered later this month, maybe early March. For more information about why we are adding this machine to the shop check out our recent news post.
So expect a delay with
1. the 5-axis mill showing up; and
2. other unforeseen problems with its installation and set up, causing delays.
