Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Without being sarcastic, the POS took orders fully paid for in advance (some waiting for years) and yet sent some knives to people who had hardly been waiting. They told the same lies repeatedly with excuses as well as blaming everyone but their own ineptness. They got shills to promote knives to increase orders which were not filled. If you truly think he was acting in good faith, I think you need to step back and look again.

You might consider NOT wanting to associate anything with that POS to your company (other than that you have equipment).

There are some phenomenal companies with great people turning out knives, so I hope you try to be more like them.
Our position is that we agree with you, but we saw no evidence in our time there. I would rather associate myself from the very start as the guy that bought the equipment, rather than it come out later and make it seem like we tried to cover that up. Feel free to ask about anything we saw.
I would also start a proper introduction thread somewhere other than this graveyard of S! knives.
I absolutely will! I figured people would have a good amount of S!K questions. Also thank you for the advice! The dog is well cared for, she is treated like a damn queen LOL

I remember reading about this one, fill me in on the lore while I find the ones we got from S!K
it was a joke as the only person really shown working at survive in the videos was the guy with the mop bucket going back and forth in the background.....

so became a running joke for some of us......

It seemed like Olive was very popular. She still it, here's a pic of us in new Hampshire.

Here is some of the equipment. It's crowded, but the rest of the building was just finished being remodeled, so this will all be rearranged and hooked up in the next month or so. We did get two Haas CNC mills, one of which is at our machine shop, the other is in storage, but moving to this location in a couple weeks.

You'll notice lots of familiar equipment if you watched the videos

Like someone else has stated…it would probably be in your best interest to start an introduction thread instead of here in the Survive thread.

It’s good advice.

Transparency is good. One of many things the other person lacked.

Start slow, build a process that works, ship everything that has been ordered. Focus on quality and customer satisfaction.

You gave his dog a home, so you are starting off on the right foot. In my book, at least.
👍

I can appreciate your approach. As SharpBits stated about starting an introductory thread- I think it is a great idea. The frustration and anger from lies, broken promises/contracts of sale and loss of money has many people leery of anything to do with Guy. I admit that even seeing your company name with …..Knives! Makes me think of Guy (not in a nice way). That is not meant as a slam on you, only expressing my disgust for Guy and Survive.

Nothing wrong with buying equipment from a defunct operation. Knife nuts are always looking for new blades and talent.

Make sure to post some photos of your blades when you start turning them out.

You thought this thread was a good place for posting a new knife business? Your inability to read a room is unfathomable, hopefully your machining skills and business acumen are 100X better then these posts.

That might be a touch harsh, seems like a nice enough fellow if not a bit misguided.

Either way it's an impressive accumulation of machinery. I for one would stay away from mimicry in relation to survive! But I can completely understand the temptation to fill their market, which for better or worse was in high demand.

People are salty in this thread for good reason. You are definitely going to get some "transference".

That said, I genuinely hope you build some amazing knives!!

I understand your frustration. My introduction for the new business will be in another thread. There are quite a few people, however, that would like to see where S!K equipment landed, along with the chance to ask questions to someone who was directly involved. Quite hard to do without a little background. Trying to make sure every reply is directly related to Survive! and not just talking about who we are.

There is no "!" at the end of Micron Knives, it's just hard to contain my excitement, and I know what you mean about the distain. I'll post more about Micron on my forum page once I find out where that goes.
