Survive! Knives Heads Up

Some factory 2nds of GSO 4.7 (and possibly some Necker II) will be up for offering on Monday April 25th. Here is the link

I may be interested in a Necker II if they happen to make it to the sales block!

Decided to withdraw it for now. Ordered new black oxide fasteners from Survive! last night to replace the ones I blemished in the process of changing over handle scales. I will probably be offering it on eBay later on in the Fall and when I get a couple more S!K's of different variety, one in 20CV.

Then I will not be needing 2 of the same in 5.1s. In the meantime the 3V will be going to work and the 20CV will be chilling in the proverbial safekeep ;)

I've been watching pretty close, and it seems like the 20CV are selling slower/lower than the 3V here on the Blade Exchange, even though the 20CV is a bit more from Survive. When a 3V model hits, it is almost immediately snapped up.

I don't think many people are willing to pay a premium on a second in 20CV in particular with the 4.7s coming. Several have gone unsold lately.

Yes it does appear that way. I think that us knife nuts are more in love with 3V and the 5.1 is in that medium+ length range to have more 3V seekers, hence why I am keeping the 3V one despite the fact that the 20CV one I received is absolutely flawless with the exception of the extra drill hole on the metal located behind the handle scales!. That said, I will order any other smaller S!K's in 20CV when given the option.

The other thing could be my own lack of any long term footprint on BF and no feedback. I don't have that issue on eBay. On my main business account I have over 10K feedback and on my buying account over 1000! I have a few blades which I haven't use which I started buying as a hobby and now that I have experienced superior quality in Survive! knives, I will be thinning out some of the ones which I do not plan to use on eBay. The great thing about Survive! is that you will never lose significantly and in fact you may gain a few $ in the process. On the other mass produced brands such as TOPS & ESEE, a 20% (or more) is a given once that knife rolls out of the showroom and the package hits the UPS truck ;)

I also agree with you Justin. However, I am sure that the secondary market will pick up again once the recent sales are all fulfilled. Survive! knives among a very few other knives are like money in your bank (or under your matters) With most others though, not so much!

Exactly. I don't think your short term footprint here is hurting you, I still believe it's the timing, and what people are perceiving the 'right' steel should be for the 5.1 size. Good luck man.

The 20cv getting treated like the red headed stepchild baffles me. I've been pounding on mine and it keeps ticking and shaving hair. I ordered my 3.5 in 20cv and have no reservations about it.

I started using my 3V or otherwise I would have sold that one instead! As I keep stating, the 20CV which I received turned out to be more perfect than the 3V which had a minuscule tip anomaly. I'm not worried about it though because it will sell for $300+ on eBay.

Couple of other observations unrelated to GSO 5.1 20CV:

1- it is very slow on the exchange as I have posted two other unused knives and no action. In fact, no action on anything else either!

2- It's Mothers' Day on Sunday so unless mothers want knives, sons, daughters and husbands are going to the mall or on Amazon :D

I'm with you on that. All my preorders with exception being the Cru Forge V, are 20CV. I don't want to beat a dead horse, but of the 30+ CRKs I've had, several BRKTs, and a couple dozen other knives, my recent 20CV is the sharpest out of the box knife I have ever had. It's actually scary sharp. I am afraid to move it too fast because I'm scared it will shear the time space continuum and create a black hole or something.

I'll be selling off some of my Sebenzas when they return from the spa to fund a few more GSOs.

The only version of 3V that I am curious about is the new HT, and will probably get 1-2 just for testing in my salty "I eat carbon steel for breakfast" Pacific North West climate.

Wow, who else knew that JustinF was not only a knife nut but also an astrophysicist nerd?! :D

Ooooo cute puppy! Look at those earssss!

I do <3 Carl Sagan & Neil deGrasse Tyson! So I guess I should have wrote Spacetime correctly, but Space-time also works. My apologies for treating it casually.

Staying on topic, that sketchy seller on the big auction site with way too many GSOs and some bad feedback regarding one is dropping his prices finally.

Well touche Justin. I am fascinated by the Universe and in fact own NDT's redo of Mr. Sagan's original series named Cosmos. I'd wish that they'd hurry up and make a new season.

The Pup is all grown up now and she'll be 4 YO in a few months. I only had this old photo on my iMac but I will be updating it soon.

You must be referring to: alshe_ahma on eBay. I guess that person is selling 2nds without making full disclosure and someone has
already dinged him with a Neg on a blemished GSO. In fact there was a thread not so long ago on here discussing as to why Survive!
was not auctioning off their own products which in effect that is what Monday Sales are! Who needs the hassle of eBay and chancing
negative feedback, returns and chargebacks when Survive! can just sell things on their own site and have people kissing their arses
too. I'll be eventually selling my GSO 5.1 on eBay which will be taking a chance, but at least I tried it on here but I discovered that
the market base is both slimmer on here and also naturally more hardcore ;)
