Survive! knives

Been wanting a Busse too for a while now but one question about the warranty. Esee is Guaranteed "forever" and Busse is Guaranteed for "life". Didin't really understand what Ankerson was saying.
Forever means my grandson has a warranty on an Esee I own now. Life meands life of the blade I assume which would mean the same thing technically but that Esee wording seems more powerful.
So is it "life" of the blade or "life" of the owner?

I have knives from both companies and used them both hard, but to keep from taking this thread any more off course shoot me an email and I will explain the warranties of both companies.

It's not so much that they are a different color but an entirely different type of coating. In the past, we were using DLC coatings which are actually ion-bonded to the steel. Right now, the SK series are all Cerakote applications to offer the S-7 some protection from weather.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Since the info for the older coating went away when the site was revamped, I couldn't see they were different coatings. I like them both. :)

I've read a complaint regarding the ferro notch looking tapered and not squared. I thought it's not a big deal but when I got my GSO 10 and looked at the notch, it is indeed tapered and a bit disappointing considering they charge $5 for it. It doesn't affect it's performance and so far it's the only quality issue I have.

Could you please explain or provide an image regarding this "taper". If you mean that the ferro-notch is cut at a slight ANGLE, that allows for a narrower ('sharper') edge that can dig into the ferro-rod to produce larger globs of burning metal - an advantage, some might say...

Do you guys think it would be a cool idea for Survive! knives to make a folder? I think it would be something! :D

Guy has posted about it before, but then his company took off and ran into production delays, the move from PA to ID ... I'm waiting on my NeckerII's, but I look forward to Survive! catching up with orders and beginning to advertise new models. Maybe SHOT next year?

It's cut straight it's just left side is wider that the right. It gradually tapers towards the right. Hopefully you get the picture. It's really just aesthetics but

I think so... like it was shaped with a dremel-cone? Interesting. 'Sounds like you could use one side for a more effective scrape of smaller-diameter ferro-rods ;) *shrug* $5 for the time and equipment-wear of cutting it for you, I guess.

Wife is a nurse and works nights, so it's just me and the little one having dinner a few times a week. Last night I went the easy route...

When I get my pre-orders I'm going to scream I Survive!(d) the wait. Or will your patience Survive! For the wait ? Lol. Keep producing great knives Guy.

Do we get one free for waiting so long?:p

I knew it wouldn't take long for somebody to say it. Haha. But that would certainly be a funny way to show appreciation and understanding of what their customers have weathered if they did make them and send them out.

Hmm, Good idea, I wonder how long it would take for shirt to be made? I'm sure people wouldn't mind waiting an extra week or two for the knife if they are getting a free shirt... yeah right! But seriously, the wait won't be much longer and we definitely will not delay in getting those out. The handles didn't come in today but Guy will be sharpening the blades as soon as he is caught up with orders so when they get here it will just be a matter of build and pack.

In the meantime, some of you may want to check out the GSO page. We have a VERY limited amount of materials from the last batch of GSO-5.1s and once those are gone it will be a few weeks until they are available again. I know you guys got screwed a bit on updates in the past so I figured I'd give you all a head start on this one.
