Survive! knives

GSO-3.5 fasteners are here! Preorders will start shipping today and regular ordering will probably open next week. As for all the other stuff... I still have to get the 1st Friday newsletter put together and then I will post that here.

1st Friday Production Update: http://eepurl.com/TT6w1

Specifically, Necker II blades are here and I believe handles will arrive in a couple weeks, once the GSO-3.5 handles are done. Same goes for the sheaths.

Looking forward to two of those NeckerII's shipping out  (7 months and counting)

And $10 off the SK4's... now awaiting two of those as well :p

Thank you for the updates, Ellie! Keep it up, we appreciate it.

With the cost aside. Busse SOB or GSO 5 in cpm 3v? Or with the length and thickness of the SOB it might be a good comparison with the 4.1.

Yes, the 4.1 would be a better comparison. The SOB's extra blade-length is lost to the "elf-choil" (excessive just for sharpening, too small for choking). The SOB does have a longer handle with a wider profile, so it may be more comfortable and easy to control the the GSO-4.1 (esp. with the flare at the heel of the GSO handle). The SOB's drop-point is less pronounced, leaving it a better piercing tip. And Busse offers an excellent warranty...

But I haven't read about how thin the edge-geometry of the SOB is, possibly much thicker than the 4.1. And while CPM-3V may be less tough than INFI, it is certainly no slouch and offers higher wear-resistance as well (though is a little harder to sharpen).
Comparing the two without owning this Busse, I'd definitely call the GSO superior, especially if it has better cutting geometry. BUT keep in mind he importance of ergonomics - if the SOB handle suits your hand better, it'd see more use than the GSO. Personally, I prefer the GSO to this Busse, but I still prefer my Swamp Rat HRLM to the GSO-4.1. My $0.02

Are the coated blades from the pre-order also shipping this week? Can't wait for my FDE coloured blade :D

that's exactly what i thought. Jim Ankerson also stated in the past regarding the M390 4.1 that the steel is tough enough for that size.

Anyone got their 5.1's yet? I'm digging their new matte stone wash finish. it's more like the competition finish by Busse and the grind marks on the spine are more pronounced.

I ordered mine 4-25 and it should be here tomorrow or Wednesday.

I am curious to see if there will be a false grind option on the new 7/7. If not the old ones may become somewhat collectable.
I am Contemplating buying Lionsteel M7 or just wait for A GSO 7/7.....I remember Guy saying that there will be some upgrades to the 7/7, but never found any updates since.I prefer the standard grind.....

Not sure why it took me so long to just get this done. Everytime I head out into the woods, I end up with one or the other (4.1 and 10) on my hip and at some point, wish I had the other. I've been doing piggybacks for quite some time and finally decided to do one for myself. I'm quite pleased with it and now I have my camp knife and chopper with me at all times. I can't wait to ge tthe 3.5 and put that with the 10 instead of the 4.1. I want both combos.

Man those pics are huge.:)

I bought an IWB sheath for my GSO 4.1's from Hale Storm. Not only am I pleased by the quality of his work, I am going to try to get him to make another one for my 5.1. I would not hesitate to buy kydex products from him.

THANK YOU. I'm making it in the next few days for hank-612. Sorry about the pics BF. The devil is in the details and as you can see, I'm proud of the fit and finish, especially the rounded, buffed, and polished edges, but there's a reason beyond pride in my work. Down here in the South in the summer, it's brutally hot. I spend days in the woods working on the deer lease setting up stands and clearing trails, etc. Most of the time it's a pair of shorts, some lightweight hiking boots, and nothing else. Rough and/or sharp edges make for uncomfortable carry all day cutting and chopping when carried right next to the skin. Same with all my neck sheaths. Under my shirt, right next to my skin in bullet proof kydex (not really bullet proof - you know what I mean), sometimes I forget the knives are there. Very comfortable. Now if I could only find a Survive Necker II, life would be complete...................uhhh, once I get a 6, a 7, and a 3.5. :D

Put the GSO-10 to use last weekend.
This thing is a beast. I love love love it. Tore right through some tough oak.
I think I recall some angry YouTuber bitching about other YouTubers not testing knives on the touch stuff where he lives...
Well, I can say, oak is nothing to this thing. It's still razor sharp after eating through that branch.

Afterward, chopped the big branch into smaller branches and used my BRK Bravo Necker 2 (looking forward to S!K's Necker II as well :D) to split those up into smaller sticks and got to test out my EmberLit stove I got for Christmas.

Everything performed outstandingly and I go into this summer backpacking season fully confident and satisfied with my gear.

Can't wait for more Survive! Knives. These things are awesome!
