Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

I just remembered I had a spare a Esee 5 sheath sitting around and the clip plate holes almost line up with the GSO 5 sheath. They're a little cockeyed at first but they straightened out. It's not to bad but I still prefer a dangler.

Thanks for the mention. I appreciate it. I was beginning to think I was unknown around here. :D. Very honored to be mentioned with the superb makers above. I do make a standard fire steel and loop that will fit just about everything. The holes are 3/4" on center (standard configuration for large Tek Lok and Molle Locks). The fire steel is 1/4" x 2-1/2". The loop is 2" long.
With the holes and slots that Kiah puts on his sheaths, the loop should fit everything. Unfortunately, since I'm a bender, I don't normally order any knives with the stock kydex.

I also build a plain loop with no holes. That way you can mark it and drill to fit just about any sheath you own. The loop is 2" long so it will accommodate up to 1-1/2" for holes to attach to the sheath.

Esee pouches and Maxpedition are another animal. They require a certain width to the sheath which is problematic when the knife is small like the 3.5 or 4.1. or very large like the 10 and the coming 12. The sheath won't look or fit right if it's too wide. The way around this is a backing plate that the pouch mounts onto and then the plate mounts to the sheath. Here's a few pics to explain it all and show the loops and steels.

To answer Hard Knocks - I'll build some stuff if you guys need it. PM me, send me the sheaths and what you want and I'll custom build it to fit your rig.

I wonder if I can buy one of each of all the sheaths from Survive!Knives or Kiah and then build everyone some accessories to fit?

Man you make some nice stuff!! That Junglas and Izula sheath setup makes me want to go buy them just to get a sheath like that!

First, blasphemy!! A GSO 10 and 2.7 or necker II is the only acceptable solution :D

Second, I really like that ESEE belt clip on the GSO 5. I never wore my ESEE 6 enough to find out, but does that metal clip eat at your belt?

I'm thinking GSO 8 or 10 with a 3.5 or 2.7 :D Edit: Crap! SN beat me to it!! :p :D

Lol. Not at all.

Haha I still have a lot of love for Esee knives!
I'm sure that I'll eventually break down and get a new 10 and 2.7 just because I can't stop myself from wanting to try them both out! I think I know what drug addicts go through now.
It works ok but it rocks around a bit and the clip does eat away at my belt. I wear a Spec Ops brand BDU nylon belt and it has a spot that is kinda hairy because of those metal clips. I already took that clip plate off and put the dangler back on.

The GSO 8 and 3.5 combo is my dream right now! The 10 and 2.7 are right after. I need to win the lotto!

Standard, I'm almost positive you and I have the same belt. Also, you have great taste in knives. ESEE was one of the gateway drugs that got me here!

You definitely do too! I went from the Esee forum to the Facebook page then straight to here! I really appreciate companies that take time to talk with their customers and both Esee and Survive! do that. I heard the Beckerheads are a good group of people.

No way, the beckerheads are the worst :D

Really though, they seemed a little more welcoming than over at jungletraining, so I got more involved and stuck around. Plus it seemed ESEE was more for the choil enthusiasts and Becker was the opposite. Those are all pretty general statements from my limited experience, though!

Haha there are a few jerks over there! The only Becker I still want to try out is the BK2 only because it's a beast kind of like the Esee 5.

I liked the idea of my bk2 more than I like using it. With such similar dimentions, I wondered if I'd like the ESEE 5 more or not. Also, the junglas has always looked so great.

Those toppers are too cool.

I like that Nyala sheath with the light-colored eyelets as well. Really sets it off!

This is great news Ronnie. The firesteel loops should go right on. If you can't get a full line of the sheaths, could you get what you need if we sent you a sheath so you could build a duplicate, or just take what measurements you need? I'm thinking mostly for the pouch attachment plates and such. I've only got the 3.5 sheath right now, but I'd ship it out if that would help, and maybe pick up an attachment or two while it's there. I really appreciate you checking in here.

If someone will ship me sheaths for the different configurations, I can make plates for pouches etc. and keep them as patterns in my shop. No problem.

Well, I was bored and all this talk about S!K got me excited. Here's what happened:

GSO 3.5 was my fishing rig (first pics). Standard GSO 3.5 in CPM-20CV with Yellow G10. My custom drop loop kydex sheath of course.

So I pimped it today and added new Burlap scales. Smoothed out the mill marks on the spine and handle. New Sheath. New Antler fire steel and loop. Burlap came out great. Nice and grippy. Hand sanded with 80 grit and a coat of mineral oil to bring out the texture in the burlap.

YES, you can laugh at my leather work. I'm a newbie (like last week newbie - :D)

Eye candy if nothing else for all us S!K fans.

I had no idea you made handles as well! I've never seen burlap used before. Can you consider that micarta?

I think burlap on a necker II would look like a peanut, ha!

It would be good to set you up with measurements for the whole GSO line.

Get a BK2 and pimp away. Esee 5 is the same knife essentially with micarta scales and better fit and finish. A beast of a knife. And the Junglas; it's a MONSTER.

Wow those burlap scales are awesome!!

Thanks Standard. I tend to pimp out and mod my own knives. I've done some for customers too but almost all of my knives (fixed blades and folders) get modded so they are unique.

I can think of two that are not modded. My Benchmade 761 and my CRK Nyala. Although I'm tempted to replace the scales on the Nyala. :D

That burlap changes the character of that 3.5. I REALLY like it. Gonna make a great camp knife.

Well shoot, looks like you've got the 3.5 or I'd send it. Those burlap scales look great!!

Wait, so is that your Nyala in the sheath with the cream-colored eyelets? Very nice rig. I always liked the Nyala, but was never a fan of the scales. It would be a great candidate for new handles
