Survivors: other knives you like

Still haven't heard of them. I went to that site, and listing knives by country, Lithuania isn't even listed.

Just google the name, pretty clean looking designs on the website.
For the price I'm very happy sticking with Busse/kin, Survive, and one day a Carothers

FWIW, I'm having very good luck with sleipner, on my gollik, which is a 6" long 1/4" thick drop-point. Full flat grind down to sub-0.02" behind the edge. Bit thinner than my 4.7 or Carothers FK.

Anyways, I've wailed on that thing a bit, including chopping through some small hardened nails, w. no edge damage, and it seems plenty tough to me. Stood up fine to moderate batonning too, and carving. Definitely seems to hold an edge better than the A2 on my old Gunny did (which was no slump at all).

It's still pretty new to me, and the rainy season here hit right after it arrived, so it hasn't been out camping much, but I don't have any worries about pressing it into use as an all-around camp knife.
Glad to hear this input ! Was contemplating the elmax edc 3 from gollik for quite some time now his designs are amazing and hopefully they can take some abuse . Ready to pull the trigger now hopefully that are available ! Thx timichango

I had never heard of Gollik before your post. I found them on Facebook and they look pretty cool and reasonably priced. Where are these knives sold? What can you tell me about them?

He is a knife maker from Poland I found him here on bf I think the only way to purchase is on Facebook and on the bf exchange

I really like Miller Bros. and the knife I have of theirs is my only true custom. Since before I got my first one I had been interested in other models. Checking their site every now and then I noticed that there prices have gone up about 175%! They're now way out of my price range. This makes the reasonably priced custom makers here even more appealing.

They are sold here :) http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/754-For-Sale-Fixed-Blades

This is his most recent sale thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-GOLLIK-Sleipner-micarta-4-6-quot-blade-knife

There are a LOT of excellent makers over on the makers' market, so beware ;) And if you are ever interested in something really crazy, there is a maker called bluntcut (Luong La) who uses a specialized HT-protocol to do incredible things with steels from 1095 to CPM-10V, pushing the boundaries of Rc-hardness (strength) while also providing MORE toughness. We are talking about CPM-10V up to 68 Rc and ground to 0.01" BTE and only experiencing minor chipping when batonned through a 16D nail  His protocol on 3V has produced >63 Rc (confirmed by Nathan Carothers), AEB-L at 64Rc, and he has tested it on many other steels as well, and publishes his results in photos and videos. He's crazy (and/or wicked smart), pushes the boundaries of what a steel can do like no one else I've ever come across.

Just took a look at TRC. Gotta say, they don't do anything for me, personally.

I have no problem paying a pretty penny for a nice looking knife built with some good materials, but I was much un-wowed. I don't think I'd spring for them at half the price honestly. Different strokes for different folks though, obviously. If people are using and liking them that's fantabulous!

I'm a huge fan of classic drop points. I think that's why I'm so interested. I'm new to the knife game so if there was something that wasn't nice about his designs or good about his materials I would appreciate any input ?

TR, that is awesome! The most current evolution of 3v steel on both forms! Nice

Sfrigon, glad to hear you're enjoying that Lionsteel!

I can't believe no one ever mentions Trc knives !? I have the apocalypse and the k1s and another on the way it's definitely my Second favorite company behind survive and I'm shocked that I don't see them anywhere on bf

I contacted TRC about 9 months ago to see if they had any plans for a K1 in a 6" model, they told me no but that they have a Apocalypse M coming to the market with a 5" blade. I preferred the look of the K1 and wanted a 6" blade though, I have since pre-ordered 2 GSO-6 but TRC looks to be very good knives.

Yeah the K1s one of the nicest looking knives I've ever seen and the feel of it in hand is amazing

I think the knives look pretty good. Nice materials as well. I'm glad to hear the K-1 feels good. I'd be worried if Mt hand wasn't the right size the spot for my index finger might not get along with my middle finger. There are a few different handle designs between the various models, though.

Just got the "Pro-Kep" and SpydieChef. I already like them a lot. :)
