I think you'll find them pretty different in hand, at least I find that the standard RMD feels a lot different from my new 5.1, the latter just feels like a much bigger knife to me. *shrug*

It does look bigger based on your photos in the review, but not by too much, at least not enough to say that the 5.1 dwarfs the RMD. As for the feel, I am there will be a difference but I can only really understand when I have both in my hands to compare. By the way, really love your review.

I'm in the same boat with you, Andy, I'm waiting on my new 5.1 from the presale. But I can tell you that the previous 5.1 also felt like a much bigger knife than the RMD. And the new version is a bit longer yet. But you're right, you will have to handle both to see.

I love the way the RMD carries flat against my side, in part due to the flat sides of the scales. It is a very low profile knife in that way.

I have to agree. The RMD is small and flat enough to be unobtrusive and large enough to get some serious works done. I like how it carries on my belt.
