Talk about a Busse Folder.

Both times up on a mountain, where there was no lock smith, and no cell phone, and the only other option was to break a window in the dead of winter and then have to drive all the way home with no window.

I would have wedged the door open enough to use a stick that I wittled a hook onto to open the door with the handle;):p

That's just me and I have had to "break into" a lot of cars with NO tools on hand:)

Anyhow, just saying:D

I'd like to describe my idea of a busse folder. Unfortunately its almost exactly what a ZT 300 is. I just got one of those and boy am I impressed. I think the talon hole would make a perfect flipper. I'd like at least a 4" blade with a deep belly. Recurve would be cool but not necessary. It should have thumb grooves like an HG55 but on a thumb ramp. I like liner locks too. It can have G10 scales but I'd like the titanium frame to make up the back end and somehow be a skull crusher pommel for breaking windows/pounding. The scales would end and the frame would be full width for a half inch or so. I like the way some thumb knobs act as stoppers and lock up against the frame when open. I really wish I was decribing something other than my 8oz ZT for originality, but I've yet to ever see a more stout folder.

Well a Busse folder if attached to your car keys would have been an expensive experience in that scenario ..... :D Losing your keys is bad enough ...

But if you had a NMFBM with you .... you could chop and whittle yourself a car a la Fred Flintstone .... should "hot wiring" not be your "forte" ....:D

Seriously tho' ..... if a Busse folder is what enough people want .... I reckon it could happen ....

I liked that also until I ran into problems with the thumb studs bending and leaving the knife with a bad lock-up. Ever since then I will not look at a folder with this feature unfortunately. I like CRK but I never thought about their new folder for just that reason, among others.

I guess until it happens it is not really of concern though. :)

i vote a folding cultellus with a friction lock style tang. have the lock go over the friction lock. If I'm going to carry a package the size of a fixed blade when folded, I'm gonna carry a fixed blade.

Somebody just needs to Triple Dog Dare Jerry to produce a folder. We know he'd do it right. Personally I think it would be bad for the company.

Or just hit the window with the butt of the knife or a brick or a rock. :D

That was specifically what he was trying to avoid. It was mid winter, night time in the mountains of Utah. He really did not want to drive home 2 + hours minus a window.

Both times, he gave me the knife and asked me to sharpen it.

Back on topic, I stand by my original thought. Mono block Titanium handle, and a very very strong pivot pin, and strong locking mechanism, and I am on it.

I am another who has never broken a folder. I don't really abuse most of my knives, especially folders.

I also am another vote for a higher hardness blade on the folder.

If I had the money, I would simply commission some folders from a custom maker, and send him a few sacrificial blades to use.

Pertaining to the Reese W. Infi folders, I have a question. When he recuts and grinds them is he affecting the heat treat at all, or are they untempered and re-treated etc?

My perfect folder would be ...... Strider SNG with INFI blade.

I was a previous flipper hater. I have since started only carrying a flipper xm-18. I love spydie holes and the strider holes. BUT I LOVE A GOOD FLIPPER.

3.5 to 4" blade. Something like the game warden blade.
Talon hole flipper
TI framelock.
tiger stripe g-10 or good old black canvas micarta scale

With all due respect, I disagree. I think that for whatever reasons Jerry has, he will not ever produce The Folder. So much time and so many death chats have passed that I just don't think it ever will. I wish it were different, but don't think that's the case.

I agree it probably won't happen. Would take a lot to setup that operation on it's own.

I think it could work if he partnered up with some other folder maker/s and just supplied the blades.

If say 3 high-end framelock makers all make their known handle shapes and use the same lock/pivot and Jerry made one blade to fit all,
As I said in the past....... If that happened, they wouldn't be able to make enough of them to meet demand.

Nice CG folder there! Reese does incredible work!
HOGS, there are many OUTSTANDING folders to chose from until Jerry gets us one. I have an "incoming" chisel sculpted Renegade from Rick Haney. This folder will easily hold me over. :D
