Talk about a Busse Folder.

All I can say is that if Strider or CR would do it and have Jerry supply the blades they would sell so many of them they would have to open another shop to keep up with demand.

I agree it probably won't happen. Would take a lot to setup that operation on it's own.

I think it could work if he partnered up with some other folder maker/s and just supplied the blades.

If say 3 high-end framelock makers all make their known handle shapes and use the same lock/pivot and Jerry made one blade to fit all,
As I said in the past....... If that happened, they wouldn't be able to make enough of them to meet demand.

I believe the Swamp Rat Rat Trap was manufactured by Blade-tech. I doubt BC could find a manufacturer both willing to do it and "good enough" to please the masses. Blades that could be put into other folders would be cool, but what about the proprietary/patented designs of those blades? For example Ken Onion's AO feature? Or an INFI blade in a Sebenza, I doubt Chris Reeves would sanction it. Jerry Busse wouldn't do that to the other credible manufacturers nor to thier mutual clients. Why buy a $400 knife so that you can put in a ~$200 blade and void the warranty? The BC folder is a pipe dream, and like Lycosa said, there are plenty of awesome ones out there--they just don't have INFI.

+1 all titanium with an Infi blade would be the cats meow! Oh! and while we're dreaming I'll have a left handed one Please. :)

Well they would be about $600 or $700 knives, but they would be worth it. :D

Or Jerry could contact LCT and supply blades for say one of the Tri-Ad lock folders...... Now that would be a pipe dream. :D

I do have a field test coming up on their Black Rhino folder once they get here, and I will thrash the heck out of it, we will see how good the Tri-Ad lock really is compared to Striders and ZT's frame locks that I already made.. :D

So lets hear it, what would YOU like to see in a Busse folder?

For me I'd keep it simple, plain edge, 4 inch blade, framelock, INFI with flipper. No AO, no recurve, set for tip up or tip down carry, ambi. SOLID.

Every day I think "Maybe i'll buy another strider or a Hinderer", and then stop myself and say "Maybe at blade Jerry will debut proto folders that will soon go into production".

I'd like a Busse folder too.........but while you're waiting, pick up a Hinderer XM-18 3.5" flipper.  Best built tank of a pocket knife I have ever used!

I'll be waiting to see a through thrashing Ank. I'm sure you won't let us down. :D:thumbup:

Oh I have plans to beat the crap out of it just like I did in my RW-1 and ZT 0301 videos.

That is an amazing idea.:cool::D

I have to disagree with the ideas that it would not be worth all the setup required to make folders (not picking on you PorcupineMtns66, as many others have said the same in the past also), simply because so many other companies like Strider, Reeve, Hinderer and others make lots of folders every year, which seems to work for them. So the argument that it would take too much or Jerry would have to make a folder that is nuke proof, just doesn't fly with me. Now that Jerry has said he is going to have three sizes of knives for sale all the time, the great demand for his fixed blades will be met for the most part and sales will level off. I think if Busse Combat wants to grow any more after that, they will need a new line like a folder. Only jerry really know why he doesn't make a folder, maybe he just doesn't want to.

I can't wait for my new one piece titanium folder from Lionsteel to arrive, I might not need another folder...........................;)

I've considered it, but i'm still holding out for the Busse folder. I don't have money for more than one or two high end folders. I still have to satisfy my fixed blade/gun addiction, which costs even more.

I don't think a marketing genius like Jerry would pass up on making a folder eventually, Im sure its just gotta be done right...and that takes a lot of time. Probably 2 more weeks. ;)

Jerry... You better jump in here!
Or send one of your Reps, Amy or Garth or the owner... Jennifer. :D

There is always a Severtech.

I read it here on bladeforums...

from what I'm seeing there hasn't been any official statement on the similarities between blade tech parts, and it's just speculation at this point. the reason I ask is because saying the handle was manufactured per srkw specs is one thing, saying another company manufactured and over saw the heat treating protocol on the blade is something else entirely.

I guess it shouldn't really matter, as long as the equipment, heat treat timing and temps, and post production destructive and non destructive testing is the same.

I've never read any official statements but the evidence is pretty compelling. I had a RIJBAK that I carried for a long time. Great knife. Busse couldn't release something with a liner lock and make the hogs happy IMO. If they teamed up with Hinderer and increased production capabilities and sold XM-18s with DLC INFI blades they'd sell a bunch!

That will never happen.............but would be sooooooo sweet!!!

Yeah, it won't happen. BC is thinking they don't need a folder to sell a bunch and Hinderer doesn't need INFI to sell a bunch either.
