Tank Like Folders?

I like Big & Thick as well.Wish I c0uld sh0w y0u a sh0t. Kevin Wilkins Ryback f0lding kitchen knife(Cust0m)like I t0ld Kevin I d0nt see kitchen.

+1 on the Manix and the 610

Not beefy enough. I've owned both... to big to be a good take everywhere knife... but not substantial enough to warrant their size. Like I said... I have a Leatherman Charge XTI and it's a fine EDC and does everything I need a folder to do. I want... not need... but want, a HOLY CRAP folder. May not carry it everyday. May only carry it when in the woods and I have on cargo pants. But I want folder that's built like dooms day device.

The Manix wasn't beefy enough? Man, the first time I picked up that bad boy my hand dropped to the floor.

If you're hell bent on .20 S30V and some 1/4 Ti slabs, why not contact a custom maker? It'd be pricey, but if it's what you want.... :D

You might want to contact him with specs and see what he can do for you. I have had a custom made by him in the past and he was right on the mark.

The Ryback makes my Aar0n Harris(Mantis)seem lite and small and it t00 is a Big 0verbuilt f0lder. By. The way the Ryback is a framel0ck as well.

Not saying it isn't a great folder. It is. And it is nice and robust.. but for the purposes of what I'm trying to get here... it's not enough.

You're looking for a brick with a blade that folds out right? :D

I just took another look at Peter Atwood's UFO (unid'ed folding object). I know he only made one, and he's the kinda guy who wants to do his own thing on his own terms & time, but asking him to do something similar couldn't hurt. Worst thing he could say is no.

I know he loves using S30V and Ti for his projects. I don't know if you could get something like A2, though for you're purposes (tough beater) I'd try looking at 3V instead. It holds the same edge, but it's a lot tougher.

The biggest I can find. A mere 34 pounds of folding knife.

My tank's are my Strider AR's. I also consider the ZT0200's a tank. The Hossom Retribution I is a definate tank of a folder!!

You need to talk with Reese Weiland as he is a design genius and can build you what you want out of the materials you want. I've always been a tank folder kinda' guy, but I once had a Weiland Wasp that was simple awesome. Had a ,187" blade (3/16) with ti frames of .200" thickness. It was a HANDFULL!! You may have to google his name to get info. but it would be worth the try.

Hi Steel-Junky, Have you ever heard of GTC Knives??? The gentleman is a Custom Knife Maker by the name of Gustavo T. Cecchini from Brazil and does some amazing work . He is willing to make knives to to your specs. His "Prisma Design" was just tested in the March Issue of Blade Magazine and got a real good review.

Here's a photo of a design we thought up together. It was based off of his "PRISMA DESIGN". I added some slight modifications to be used as an LEO. If your interested pm for additional info. Take Good Care and Be Safe Always.

BTW, There are other folder designs that he makes that are BIGGER ;).

God Bless :)

I think If Price Isn't an Issue. Strider AR/GB are Great, as Are Strider SMFs.(I am Almost Positive that they Issue or Give U.S. Marines a Version of the SMF, So it has to be Tough) Better then Trident Knives In My Humble opinion, because They Have G10, and a Way better grip. Even though the Titanuim on the TRIDENT Might be Carved, it will still slip and also be really cold in the winter. Striders G10 With Ti Frame lock On SMF is the most "Tank" Like Knife I have ever Owned(Or Maybe the AR too, a little nicer because all G10 Handle with HUGE liner lock, enough to be frame lock)

BUT, The First Post under you origional Post has the Spyderco Manix, and Chinook, and also The Benchmade Rukus. Both are "Tanks" too, and Extremely Nice. You Could get 2 of each, or all 3. Rukus, Manix and chinook for the Price of a Strider or a Trident, and they are of the same Quality and toughness in my opinion.

Yeah I've seen those, but I figure the Strider's are tougher or as tough and I'm looking for something more excessive than a strider... which is Why I was looking at makes like Crusader and some custom stuff.

they might be tougher and also 3 times as much. Did you try looking into MOD CQD MARK 1
