I will start by saying I do not now nor have I ever owned a Barrow or a TC Barrow. I like the Tridioute Nifebrite lambsfoot and Tom's Choice with African Blackwood.I also like the GEC-TC Barrow SFO Single Razor. I can't remember if that has the pen blade too. Also the clip and pen blade.
I have always loved Barrow Knives.Something about them calls out to my blood. Now I can honestly say I do not know about all the different runs they have had. But I have known for a long time that they have been around for over a hundred years and even Mark Twain owned one. It's part of the American heritage. It's part of us all. I have always found their design and look appealing and have been drawn to them.
I like the vintage stamping that they have and its importance in identifying what they are. So I like the clean look they have. But if I had to pick a design My thoughts are a vintage stamp of its birthplace to be marked with the name of its maker and date if its design.
I think its a classic and will never go out of style. People know quality when they see it and I would love to hold a piece of history and craftsmanship in my hand and pocket. Sentimentally I feel the need to own one because my Grandpa owned one. His Barrow did not go to me but to one of his sons, understandably. I would sit and watch him widdle for hours totally enthralled by the way his hands moved so effortlessly, wielding his Barrow through the wood as if it were butter. That was a long time ago. But I know once I have a Barrow in my hands I will feel like I am back there with my Grandpa again.
I would find it an honor and a privilege to be able to start my, "knife life," as I'm calling, it with a classic Barrow.
