TechStudio K01 Profile Sharpening System

Bodog rant retracted.

85 does seem expensive but I would expect shipping on a small knife to cost 35-45 bucks. I'm guessing with the large dimensions and hefty weight would bring that number up.

It's possible they've added insurance to protect themselves better. I know I'd be nervous shipping a heavy metal item in a wood box across the globe.

I feel a little burnt because I just paid 85 as well. Trying to make myself feel better having paid full tittie.

$85 for shipping? I'll be damned if I sit idly by and watch this company start overcharging Americans.

Get off your high horse.
USPS charges more for shipping a similar or smaller package to Russia.

I tend to agree with this. Of course I would of liked to have paid less for shipping, but this is a large, heavy box coming from across the world.

I think the price changes we see happening are just tsprof realizing they were not making money on the original ones shipped out. Most likely those were all sold at a loss to them. I personally cannot fault them for wanting a profit. That's business.

I think those that don't like the price, either need not to buy it or wait for a US distributor to hopefully pick up on the demand and start to sell them stateside.

As for stones, my order consisted of the basic set and I plan to supplement them with US purchases that are compatible with the Apex Pro system from Chefstogo, etc.

The only thing that has me a little concerned is parts. I don't think anything is going to fail for a long long time and then hopefully a US dealer will stock them, but right now if say a clamp broke (not very likely) I am not sure how long it would take to get a replacement.

Again, this is my opinion and others can have thier own. I am excited to get this system, it really seems like it covers all the issues I personally had that prevented me from buying the other local options. To ME, the price is worth it. (And that is what it really boils down to in the end)

I'm sorry for the confusion guys, I went back and looked and the shipping was $75, not $25. Foot in my mouth. I'm a little embarrassed.

I just emailed tsprof to inquire about K02 configuration, old pricing and shipping. I think this system looks really solid and would love to replace my edge pro knock off with one if I can.

I'm intrigued. Put in an order today. Can't wait to get it and try it out. Was going to get the Wicked Edge Gen 3 pro, but this looks more my style.

If it was between the wicked edge and this I'd go with this if the prices were justifiable. Based on the system alone, prices notwithstanding, the TSProf, IMO, is better.

Hard to choose here, wich one to get - this system or a wicked pro pack II?
I dont look at the price just want to have a good system. It seems like you can work faster with WE because you work with both hands at once? Also does Profile have ceramic stones with 1.4 0.6 micron like Wicked if you want to go bananas with your knifes? I could not find russian version of their web page as I do speak the language...the english webpage is confusing to navigate in

Since the TechStudio doesn't require proprietary paddles or stones you can go as bananas as you'd like. With the wicked edge you're limited to either what they sell specifically for the wicked edge or what you can make that'd work with the rods.

Hi to all…..my name is Antonio and I have the TS K-02 since 2 month ago and I have been used it to sharp 7-8 knives and I realized that it has an small problem that in my personal opinion I don't like, I work a lot at mirror edge and micro bevel edge . The problem is when you are working strops the clamp rotary system has tendency to move down and I have to put my finger to push up….it is my observation. Beside I have been looked at You Tube video about K-01 and it is better than K-02 because it is capped to push up the shaft clamp so it is more stable with minor movements…even that I don't have it.
I hope Mr Paul will be able to modify this movement because with this system you can use any kind of stones with many options : cheap ones or expensive ones,
About the wick edge system I have 5 machines and I made 2 by my self including pro-2 and Gen-3 and all my knives collection are fold knives. This system works perfect for small knives of course all stone accessories are more expensive. Keep in mind when you start working on wick edge system you need to invest more time to set up both angles sides which is different with TS K-02 as it is easier to get the set up angle.
I'm not professional but I like to sharp knives as a hobby and personal therapy . I have been sharped more than 80 knives with the wicked edge system and still continue learning
Best regards

There are not a lot of videos out there for this system and the ones there are show this mechanism as very stable and adjustable. Any chance you could take and share a video of the issue you are having?

Thx for the input. Where can I buy 4000-8000 grit stones to this machine? I think that a 1000 grit which is included is a bit rough for my taste.
Will those for Edge pro fit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Naniwa-Chosera-stones-6x1x1-4-for-Edge-Pro-Sharpeners-/221703945936
Anyone using Profile with GLobal knifes, I believe they need a 13-15° so the standard pinchers may be to thick?
Also, it looks like you dont need to wet the stones before use or is it something people just miss doing?
