TechStudio K01 Profile Sharpening System

The discussion started from the price difference between Russian and International website. It's the separate topic, the reasons is an extra expenses for export selling. We hadn't a lot of customers outside of Russia before and we realized that the approach to units supplied to outside of our country should be different. It's related to additional expenses for replacing parts by warranty. We pay more for shipping parts and the quality of the product should be as high as possible to minimize the expenses and make foreign customers feel comfortable with the product.

The second topic raised is the recent price increase for 10% (Standard Kit raised from 348 to 388$). Indeed, we had to review the prices and the price review is related to the video. But we are not striving to make money using the recent interest to our product. We are on the market for 5 years and we know exactly that the demand increase it's a wave. Today we have the demand increase but tomorrow everything will change. We are look to the future and plan forward. We realize that customers in the US want to buy from US stores and have support from US companies. That is why tsprof should have dealers in the US. Today we have only dealers in Russia and they work for about 20% discount. Dealers in the US wants better discount. Than we have 2 options to become closer to our customers: decrease production expenses or increase the prices. The first way is a long term and the second can be implemented in the closest perspective. We follow both ways. We completely realize the price increase lead to losing some customers and i would like to apologize to everyone who disappointed by the price increase. But we still hope for understanding and doing our best to become closer to our customers providing high quality product and service.

There is no way to increase an order price after it's payed and even if it's just placed. Moreover, for today we sell for old prices if someone asks directly.

How do you order today at the old price? seems like a fairly complicated system where you have to speak to someone who is not fluent in English and I speak no Russian then you mix in the time differential and is is a very complex transaction. To bad you can't order off the website and pay for it there as well. If that were the case I would have had my order in for a October delivery at the lower price.

The price of the basic unit has increased from $202 to $322 in a few months. That's a 60% increase, not 10% unless I have missed something?

Moreover, for today we sell for old prices if someone asks directly.

Does that mean you are still selling the basic unit with diamond abrasives for $202?

Price increased only for 10%
There is 2 models K01 and K02 On the website and you can switch between the models pressing a button. K01 was displaying by default when the site loaded. But now the website displays K02 by default. K02 is more expensive, that's why it looks like huge price increase. But in fact the increase is only 10% for Standard Kit.

Old prices can be provided by agreement, email to paultechman@hotmail.com For 216$. The diamond stones are increased because supplier increased the price and we can't sell cheaper now. 212$ if replace the diamond stones to silicon carbide.

OK now I understand, thanks.

Ordered a K02 today, Looks like the best system I have seen. Looks like it will be a while before I get it so I will just keep practicing with my freehand sharpening in the meantime.
Thanks to Paul for offering these at the old price.

I am pretty interested in this system.

I've only ever had a sharpmaker and some whetstones.

Hi fellas, brand new to the form. I am also new to knife sharpening and may ask some "trying" questions but please be patient with me. I live in Canada, and i am a grain farmer. This gives me most of the winter to find other avenues of entertainment and income. I am hoping to start a small business sharpening knifes in my local community. I was planing on purchasing the K02 wrangler start kit. Would you guys recommend any other options?

Thanks for your time
JT

Welcome to the forum fellow canuck!

As far as I know other systems to consider would be the wicked edge and the edge pro.

If you're looking to make a business out of sharpening knives then I'd strongly suggest staying away from guided stone sharpening systems. These are for hobbyists looking for the best edges. It takes a while to set them up and takes more to figure the system out and get it running perfectly. With a business you need to be quick enough to pump out a decent amount of knives. Look for a powered system for quickness or hand sharpening for the wow factor. Simple guided sharpeners, no matter how good, will likely lead to a better edge but at the expense of a lot of time. Time is money.

Hi Marcus and bodog. Thanks for the replys. My next question is about stones, are the standard 5 that you can get from tsprof all i need to start with ? I will be mainly sharpening hunting knives and kitchen knives.

appreciate your help

I'm curious about this myself. I have never owned or used a system like this.

I'm thinking about getting the diamond and the boride stones.

I'd be interested if someone could chime in as well. Are the boride stones an upgrade over the standard profile stones?

I probably need to do some research myself to learn more about the abrasives before I order. I like the idea of the diamond for quick profiling, just not sure what kind of stones I should get.

Not really concerned with the above post. I'm curious if the conical clamps would replace the normal double clamp? No tools necessary? Seems like the way to go. If anyone has experience with these I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Or is it just being lazy and just go for the standard?

I'd like to envision this sharpener to last me for years, so if there's a feature to make it more user friendly why not.

This question is for tsprof: Do you offer diamond stones? I thought you did but I dont see them listed anymore.
