TechStudio K01 Profile Sharpening System

Hard to choose here, wich one to get - this system or a wicked pro pack II?
I dont look at the price just want to have a good system. It seems like you can work faster with WE because you work with both hands at once? Also does Profile have ceramic stones with 1.4 0.6 micron like Wicked if you want to go bananas with your knifes? I could not find russian version of their web page as I do speak the language...the english webpage is confusing to navigate in

You can technically fit up to full size stones into the holder, although I do not know how practical it would be.

Hi to all…..my name is Antonio and I have the TS K-02 since 2 month ago and I have been used it to sharp 7-8 knives and I realized that it has an small problem that in my personal opinion I don't like, I work a lot at mirror edge and micro bevel edge . The problem is when you are working strops the clamp rotary system has tendency to move down and I have to put my finger to push up….it is my observation. Beside I have been looked at You Tube video about K-01 and it is better than K-02 because it is capped to push up the shaft clamp so it is more stable with minor movements…even that I don't have it.
I hope Mr Paul will be able to modify this movement because with this system you can use any kind of stones with many options : cheap ones or expensive ones,
About the wick edge system I have 5 machines and I made 2 by my self including pro-2 and Gen-3 and all my knives collection are fold knives. This system works perfect for small knives of course all stone accessories are more expensive. Keep in mind when you start working on wick edge system you need to invest more time to set up both angles sides which is different with TS K-02 as it is easier to get the set up angle.
I'm not professional but I like to sharp knives as a hobby and personal therapy . I have been sharped more than 80 knives with the wicked edge system and still continue learning
Best regards

Are you tightening the spring adjustment enough? From what I have seen if you tighten the spring up it requires both hands and a lot of strength to cause the K02 to move.

Thx for the input. Where can I buy 4000-8000 grit stones to this machine? I think that a 1000 grit which is included is a bit rough for my taste.
Will those for Edge pro fit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Naniwa-Chosera-stones-6x1x1-4-for-Edge-Pro-Sharpeners-/221703945936
Anyone using Profile with GLobal knifes, I believe they need a 13-15° so the standard pinchers may be to thick?
Also, it looks like you dont need to wet the stones before use or is it something people just miss doing?

Yes, those ones will fit the Profile sharpening system. The "Profile abrasives" that you can buy from Tech Studio are a standard silicon carbide stone so treat them how you would normally go with a stone of that type.

You can send them an email to ask about specific knives and angles of the clamps.

You can buy stones from a lot of places. If you're looking specifically for stones made for the edge pro then any of em would fit. Chefknivestogo has a large selection of Japanese water stones for the edge pro if you're in the US. I forgot the name of the place in Canada. Gritomatic has a really large selection of other types of stones including diamond, cubic boron nitride, natural whetstones like Arkansas stones, and ceramic stones that fit the edge pro.

The silicon carbide stones a lot of guys use and that come with the system don't really NEED to be wet when used but it does keep the stones from glazing over and allows the stone to release abrasive better than if you don't. You don't need to soak silicon carbide stones but you can if you want. You can use oil if you want, too. That's what I use with most of em. Diamonds I use dry.

Yes, you can use stones meant for the edge pro in this system. There are notches cut to hold the lips of those types of backers. You can also use stones that are longer, wider, and considerably thicker than stones meant for the edge pro. I'd say you be safe with a stone up to 8.25" x 3" x 2" though it may be a bit cumbersome. As far as how small, you could safely get a 4.25" by .5" x .5" stone. You don't need the metal backing plates that edge pro stones have though they'd help keep really big/heavy stones in place. So if you really wanted you can buy bench stones and using a diamond tile cutter cut the bench stones to whatever size you feel most comfortable with. If it's a bench stone and it huge and heavy, as long as it's within the size parameters, slap a thin metal backer on it and go to town. It's not anywhere near as limited as the edge pro or wicked edge.

And the standard clamps should be able to handle 13 to 15 dps easily on most knives.

Here is an edge pro sized stone. As you can see you have a lot of room to play with as the stone holder is adjustable.

Hey bodog, what type/brand of diamond stones work well with the K02? and where can I buy them? I dont need them to be made with an edge pro back plate.

Pretty much any diamond hone suitable for knife sharpening that fits within the size parameters. You can get them from any place that sells them. I know that sounds generic but there are a lot of places. I'm using the diamond hones that TechStudio offers and they're made by Venev Industrial Diamonds. I think they're really good but others may prefer DMT or Eze-lap or Atoma or even the cheaper diamond hones from China. Depends on what you're looking for and comfortable with.

But here's a knife straight off the Venev 2500 grit stone, no stropping or anything. Sorry for the bad photos.

You can't tell it from the picture but it's very close to being a clean mirror.

I ordered the WranglerStar kit on 9/22. No shipping email yet. :( Originally was told I would be in the Oct shipping but things happen. I am not worried. I would rather them take thier time and get quality vs a rushed to ship unit.

I made the payment 9/26 and got the email 10/11 saying it's about to ship. I'm not worried either ☺️

I made payment on 9/23 but no email so probably going to be in the late Nov shipment unless it just shows up without a shipping email.
I have been practicing on my Work sharp guided system and I seem to be getting better with it so I will just keep at it until it arrives.

"... The shipment process has been started this monday and all the parcels will be sent till the end of the week. Please be a little patient, the tracking numbers will be available when all parcels ships."

I haven't received my tracking number yet, but I let you know when I do.

I must say that I am not impressed with the way that Paul notified people that theirs had shipped... He sent out a mass email saying that some had shipped and the rest would go out this week.. And he listed EVERYBODY by full name and gave their tracking number.

Quite unprofessional in my opinion.

I got the list with all the names (no females, little surprise), but my name wasn't in there. I guess that is both good and bad 😕

I didn't receive any email, now I am a little concerned if I am on the Nov. shipment.
Maybe someone can forward the list to me at concoreinc@aol.com

Thanks,

Did you order yours with a case?
Here's the translation with their last reply on a Russian forum:
"Current orders batch are being packed, shipment will be done from 10 till 13th of october, tracking numbers will be available on Thursday-Friday. Gift sets with cases will be sent out 14-15 (cases are on their way)."

I'm also a bit concerned, I've asked them last Friday on what's the status of the order (which should've been sent out on 10th) but didn't get any reply.

Could someone with a list please PM me, don't need a full list, just a search by first name would suffice (mine is a bit weird so there should be a match if it was sent out)
