Tell me why I should or should not get a military.

When I see people post that handles are too long on this and that, it's usually just a sense of aesthetics for them.

Maybe so.

Personally, I find that larger handles often lend precision and control to a tool. This idea is not new and it's certainly not specific to folding knives. I would agree that the millie looks pretty large when you first handle one but it somehow manages to carry remarkably small.

And it's a joy to use. It's one of the best knives I've used while wearing gloves, and when cutting rope slings of particularly thick rope, it's nice to have lots of handle to grab onto. I like my ParaMilitary2 more, but the Military is definitely better at some tasks.

That's one good looking blade. Is that a blade swap or did you pick it up that way? I didn't think the ti Millie ever came with M4. Really like it though.

Blade swap. The previous owner used the framelock from the CPM-M4 Military and the brown scale and CTS-XHP blade. I received the black G10 & brown linerlock with the CPM-M4. I bought a Ti Military, swapped the blades, and traded off the S30V + black/brown combo. Luckily, they all fit together. :D This Military brought me back to Spydercos after about 15 years since my first Endura and Police, which I didn't really like.

I admit that I never liked the military when I got it. Only when I started using seriously for work at the farm, did I become a convert.

Agreed. I was not excited at all when I received my first one. Like the earlier poster I thought it was too large. I actually put it up for sale here and after a few days with no offers I figured "what the hell I guess I'll just carry and use the thing". Haha...you know how that story ends.

Same here. I bought my first one and thought it was ridiculously large. Sold it almost immediately.
Then I bought one and actually used it. Haven't carried much else since. Funny how this model grows on you.

I'd like another, but I don't see myself carrying one in place of my CruWear. A blade swap with a fluted titanium model would be epic, but there's still quite a few Spydies I need to buy before I do something like that.

I wish I had gotten the cruwear. I know there are still plenty on the aftermarket but I can't justify a third millie right now. :(

Just got one for 165 off the X Ringo (and see 2 more at that price) :D

I keep repeating a little slogan in my head....

Why ask why? Try a Mili TI :)

since i got my military it hasn't left my pocket long. i've bought and sold a bunch of other knives and keep coming back to the military. i don't know of any other knife that carries so slim and light and gives you so much blade. maybe the BM 710. i modified mine with an STR deep carry clip and pulled the back-spacer out and put in standoffs so it's easier to clean out. i don't see myself ever getting rid of it and if something happened to it i would buy another in a heartbeat.

Great knife but quite expensive. I would get the black handle and satin blade. The black blade will look like crap after some use. Unless you are actually going to be using it in a hostile area and are trying to avoid being spotted by snipers there's no use for it. And I'm just not a fan of the camo.

Thanks guys, this thread alone highly influenced me to buy a Ti Millie on the exchange. You're a bunch of enablers!
