Thank you!
The bolster and liner are one piece. They started out as a full titanium scale. The added screw is just to balance things out (its pressed in), I thought the bolster was too plain without it.
Gotcha, looks good:thumbsup: That's a lot of material to hog off by hand:eek:

No, mirror bit over the top for my liking.
i had thought about polishing and or mirror polishing the suru blade since i have countless man-hours of (positive/negative/frustrating/etc) experience with mirror polishing efforts of blade faces. but for several reasons i won't go down that path, the most important one being: the original commercial beautiful suru finish variants (stonewashed, black stonewashed, black PVD-coated, black acid-etched, silver stonewashed, satin, etc) are "to protect" the finish from visible damages/scratches through use/wear/tear. Stonewash and satin finishes have a certain depth (micrometers) which can hide superficial scratches from use very well.

ah never mind.

Needed a stop pin just a bit larger than the one I had, so I turned the top of my washing machine and my cordless drill into a poor mans lathe!
Cant believe this actually worked! :D:D:D

Done that many a time in a pinch:thumbsup: Just a warning though, side loading like that trashes the drill bearings quick...

All the dust and metal shavings probably isn't good for it either. Maybe Ill win the loto one day and buy a lathe:D.....i wont hold my breath.

This thing is looking better and better....Ill call it the "Poor mans Dauntless" .....it's beefier than the real thing!
Look at the blade stock compared to the XM-18! ......0.195"

What is it?

What is it?
Its a clone of a Strider Tad Dauntless that my oldest son found at a used knife fair/flea market. Even the clone goes for a decent amount of change, so I figured it would be fun to "make better"
Its got a D2 blade that seems to have a good heat treat. We'll see how it turns out...:D:p just having fun with it.

Gotcha, that D2 on the SMF clone that @South paw draw gave me seems damn decent too (incidentally it's both the only clone and only "Strider" I'm ok owning;)). Nice canvas for practice without much stress:thumbsup:
